the difference between the art style on the author’s first work and this is insane everyone looks so hotttt now

as fucked up as everything in this manga is i still can't help but feel intrigued as to how the story manages to so flawlessly execute the way in which narratives affect the way people act. the biggest reason why the classmates feel that they have the freedom (or rather the lack of moral constraint) to violate kanae as to satiate their desires is under the common notion that "omegas are weak in nature and that they are made for alphas" which seems to be supported by the fact that the biological distinction between an alpha and omega is clearer than day and night. this is especially true with ougi’s competitive nature with his other alpha classmates in trying to pursue kanae, in which such affect his actions and his primal reason of approaching kanae even if it was done with no ill intent.

it also seems to me in this story that kanae would be the catalyst for breaking these harmful narratives down because the fact that he’s willing to go through all that he’s encountered to defy the narrative his environment tries to put around him and reach a happy ending with his partner has also impacted to a significant extent the way his community acts around him. although arguable, i do think hayato would be a good example, as he inevitably realises the consequences of not only his own actions, but the narrative that occupies his subconscious into doing what he did into kanae.

however, nobody is the true good actor in this story either. the way kanae treats his classmates with such kindness and pity even after all he's faced also seems to reflect what society has pushed onto him, which in turn makes him also blind to the justice that he actually deserves. i do nevertheless think that the main point of the story is that nobody is fully conscious of their actions towards one another, whether it be through one's heats and ruts or through what society subconsciously enforces a person to do.

overall, fucked up but insightful read( ̄へ ̄)

remember when this used to be on the top 5 or something in the yaoi category back in like 2021

ill be analyzing this from a story-wise perspective since most sentiments regarding their relationship burdens have already been said here and i don't wanna blame a specific character for everything that went wrong with this timeskip lolw

post time-skip there could've been so many good ways to develop their relationship especially since they're now in college. However, the author decides to bring out their insecurities in the worst ways possible (e.g. aya automatically assuming that mitsuki would be cheating on her because of her slightly off-beat attitude in ch150) which would to the reasonable mind, be due to a lack of communication and proper setting of boundaries and goals beforehand to which i'd have to argue that this time-skip would've been the PERFECT opportunity to develop that instead if it wanted to keep the spirit of the main story alive.

next, the lack of communication in their relationship becomes painfully obvious during the whole concert arc to which the author does not deliberately take the effort resolve this issue asap for good closure and possible growth not only for their relationship as a whole but for aya too who has not had as much fleshed-out character development as mitsuki, but rather chooses to drop off a bunch of "wholesome" side stories such as the part where they make out and whatever (to appease the fans i'd assume?) with the tradeoff of actually addressing the issue.
this new ordeal also introduces a bunch of new side characters (names of which i can't be bothered to remember because of how little importance they were given in the chaps they were introduced with) who seem to take an interest on aya and mitsuki, to which the author seems to be setting them up for something to which we do not know the full extent of...

in the current update we go back to the main concert issue, though it arrives from the usual eagerness to avoid addressing the issue. instead, the side characters who were introduced a while back, somehow get entangled in the situation, insinuate to me that these would be mitsuki and aya's respective plan b's in the worst case scenario if the crisis were to not be resolved (blue yuri)

now even as someone who loves a healthy amount of drama and angst in a romance story, I would have to contend that that this sort of issue was a little too much to handle given that they had such a wholesome premise and series of events leading up to their graduation, and that this sentiment is moreso amplified by the execution of how the events turned out due to the already unstable tendencies of mitsuki and aya presented in the post-time skip.
i don't want to imply that they can never communicate properly again and save their relationship, but the way the story presents itself suggests to me that they'll throw in the towel soon enough

while i do agree that you can have a realistic portrayal of a relationship and that this is a part of the myriad struggles of being a lesbian and that in itself is never bad, that doesn't automatically mean that it's gonna work out well especially for a story like this 'cause when you take a premise that was built from day one to be wholesome and butcher its primary appeal, you essentially lose what made the story special in the first place. naku, to see such a beloved work head in this trajectory feels like a betrayal of not only the story's deepest roots and principles but also a betrayal to the entire fanbase and their dedication. i honestly feel so bad for those who have been rooting for this story and its characters since day one seeing that the time-skip seems like such a blatant fuck-you for the audience who stayed to feel comfort in them and enjoy their relationship dynamics.

(now a little bit on narita):

as someone who is aroace but would absolutely DIE to support a cute couple, i love narita to death. However, I do feel like he has overwelcomed his stay a little bit too much as cupid to mitsuki and aya at this point, in which i believe could've been better time to see his own development as a person rather than have him third-wheel once again. While I do understand that the couple both still enjoy narita accompanying them and vice versa, I do feel that it has gotten to a point where his presence is not needed as much to maintain their relationship as it used to be especially since they're all in college now and as such would be more natural for them to part their own ways. contrary to what everyone says here, the last thing i want for narita as a character is to be the story's sole on-dial "relationship band-aid" for a problem that can only be truly resolved by the characters themselves, but oh well there's that ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

what is this author cooking rn, hope this issue will be resolved soon! Σ( ̄□ ̄||)
