I think when Shingo was abandoned as a kitten, he wished, "Come back," or "Don't leave me." Since he people kitten Shingo was attached to always left anyway, Shingo learned not to say, "Come back."

In general I find mangas are too rigid about the roles in relationship.
There is something really appealing about couples that take turns and work to empathize with one another.
