Man, I really like the emperor as a sub-antagonist. He's not an evil tyrant that can be slain through justified revolution. He's a freaking politician who wants to further his influence, so he's using every chess piece he has to play his game... He can be argued with if what will favor the other will favor him more. His pride will be his downfall for sure
