Like going back in to the past.....I mean surely the novel won't end after Thalia dies rite..so I was just assuming if the elf had to do something with varkas goin back to the..past just a theory though

as of now we don't know how the author will continue the story. we just know that Thalia died a very unfortunate death and Barkas followed in her footsteps not long after. the next book starts on Thursday so that's probably when we'll get a more clear answer whether it's a regression, reincarnation or sth else.

there is no past/current life yet cause no reincarnation/regression happened yet. the book ends with Barkas getting mauled and we don't know if what he's seeing is a sign of him going back in time or if he's just having visions from what attacked him.
