In the panels where he keeps getting younger, the way it starts with him as an adult still looking to the side felt really intentional—like even though the cop wasn’t physically there anymore, mentally he still was. It gave the sense that the victim still carries that trauma subconsciously.
Then it shows the policeman at first not smiling or touching him while the victim is older, representing complete disinterest. But as the victim gets younger and younger, the cop gradually starts smiling wider and touching him. Meanwhile, the victim’s eyes and expression never change, which makes it feel like he’s become numb to the abuse. That’s literally so sad bro.
