Exactly, I’ve been told it’s a “trend” so it’ll get more readers with such content involved but literally look at how good Nerd Project is doing-very popular- and not a single SA/rape chapter. Authors be making it seem like they’ll only ever get readers if their work has that particular content when it cld be better without it

rape is an easy way to villainise the ml so that they can give him a redemption arc which ppl will then glaze as the greatest character development of all time. it's also an easy way to tell how much they suck at writing cuz they dk how to create a conflict without adding unnecessary SA.

I think it's some sort of fantasy some people have, they think bad people deserve a chance too

to me it could also be creating a reality where the people who hurt you come to regret it. like loving a toxic person, wishing they would change for you but they won't, so you write this improbable outcome to get some relief. idk!
