This is such a weird dynamic to me cuz I feel that Jo is like the categorical definition of “the endgame ml” but he isn’t fleshed out, relationship wise nor character wise, in comparison to Tj. I don’t like tjian in this story’s context but it almost feels like we are meant to root for them(at least for now) even though Jo is set up to be “the rational choice”. I’m interested to see how this plays out but also I just want Jo to be happy even if it’s a side story. Maybe this is the authors way of trying to subvert genre tropes

This is exactly what I was thinking. The author has put so much emphasis on TJ that his connection seems stronger with Ian than Jo’s, even though Jo is painted out to be the “redeeming, golden-retriever, rational option” …Unfortunately Jo’s character doesn’t have much depth…The author has painted such a strong an deep affection between TJ and Ian throughout these chapters that it would take even more chapters for Ian to fall in love with Jo, because their dynamic is lacking in comparison…It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out

Yea, It’s almost off putting for me when tjian have their big moments cuz it feels like, by procedure, it should be happening just as frequently if not more with Joian. But also I kinda get it storytelling wise if it’s supposed to be focused on and told by Ian. It makes sense that anything that happens with Jo is portrayed as slow and cautious while his actions with Tj are shown as natural and familiar if it’s from Ian’s perspective. I’m really hoping that’s why Jo’s stunted as a character right now and that it’s not permanent ( ̄∇ ̄")

Since your are very much interested with Jo I will explain about him. His pride is definitely his strength and weakness the same as kindness being Ian's strength and weakness. When you are in love, sometimes you really have to swallow your pride. It should be balanced not your pride winning over your love. His insecurity and fear are forming up from his pride because he is in a disadvantaged position. However he's persistent, patient and understanding because if someone else was in his position they would've quit long ago. Despite his disadvantage, he chose to stay which means he's evolving. Meeting and falling in love with Ian is his biggest turning point in his life because it lets him get to know himself because there's more to him than what he have presumed about himself. It also will force him to face the things he dislikes the most which has to do with his pride. His darkness that he is stopping from himself getting consumed will be the key for his development. He is an open book that isn't easy to read because there's more to him than meets the eye.
