I think I know why claude easily kills athi in the og story, cause as I was re reading this, claude mentioned in a chapter that he only had 2 more years and he would have forgotten diana and this is where my theory start. So in the og story claude met athanasia when she was 9 years old but in the present story, he met her when she was 6 or 7? I think, so that means if athanasia met her father earlier in the og story that means it could have been like the present story same in the present story, if claude met athanasia when she was 9 years old then it means it will also lead to the og story when she was abondoned by claude until she was in her teens. So the 2 years earlier meeting really did make a big impact in the story. That's why claude never really cared for athanasia in the og story because he had already forgotten about the existence of diana, and that's why he only have the picture of jeannetes mom in his room. Maybe some of ya'll already notice this, but I still want to point it out hehe
