its sort of strange. the novel often receives reviews such a "mediocre" but the manhwa is very liked in the community. usually has a 9.5+ rating in all manhwa sites. there's also the thing that novel readers complain how manhwa isn't "accurately" portraying the novel scenes or is changing og behaviours of the characters. so is the novel good or not? my honest feeling is it IS good, but needs decluttering.
there are three types of novel readers: one, reader who wants the novel/manhwa to be bl because they have read all about the sexual tension between hyj and shj. two: reader who's very enthusiastic about the novel and is somehow knowledgeable about all the scenes. three: the mtl readers who have forgotten stuff and mix novel details and manhwa details (that's me) because scenes got a little altered.
well its a novel that started publishing during the time when dungeon and time reversal books were on trend and bl/yaoi was picking its pace in the market.
