Not sure if this was made super clear in the chapter but in the novel at least, it was made clear that ‘breeding ground for crime/criminal district’ is the literal meaning of the ML’s name
As someone who took a glance at novel spoilers for this series, this wasn’t the first time the Duchess let the head maid do what she wanted. The duchess did the exact same thing with her eldest kid. She let the head maid take charge of his education, to the point where she thinks he feels closer to the maid than her. Well… at least she treats the MC and her kids the same. I assume she’ll eventually help the mc out, I haven’t really read all of the novel, but the damage is already done with her first kid…
Btw the first kid does not in fact like the maid more than her, it’s just her assumption. But the fact that it takes her so long to do anything is disappointing in my opinion, especially because she’s portrayed to be very caring.
I just realized, the main characters in this story are all inspired by characters from a story from Norse Mythology, the Volsung Saga. ML is Sigmund, the Hero who pulled out the sword Gram, MC is Brunhild , who is portrayed as his wife/love interest in some iterations of the story. ML’s Nephew is Siegfried, the replacement for Sigmund in the German version of the story, who was often said to be Sigurd’s son.

been some time since i read any version of it but small correction:
sigmund is the father of sigurd/siegfried, not the other way around, he dies and his wife makes sure sigurd gets the sword gram
it's sigurd/siegfried who in some versions was the fiancé/lover of brunhild, not sigmund
but in some brunhild and gunnar/gunther have a son named siegfried too i think lol

Honestly, I think what would make me happiest to see from this Manga’s ending is Gen moving on from Koutaro. At this rate, Even if Koutaro somehow ends up dating him, he will always be projecting the brother onto Gen. That would be a sad relationship for Gen
Why do these guys even have kids when the kids are pushed to the side during serious arcs anyway? The fact that they never showed the ML reuniting with the kids is criminal. How long were they stuck at the grandparents house anyway??? Are the kids only there to be cute??? Man the amnesia arc was written so badly
