I have read the novel and theres really no explanation why Gio or the other Gios are like that, Its just his personality.

And about the eating part, theres also an explanation for that but I think the manhwa will tackle that far later

From my understanding of the novel, a likely reason is because of the assimilation of his personality and memories as Giovanni was still pretty much in the process of growing. You could say he's 'incomplete' instead of broken. Plus, he's really just the type to easily accept things since it already happened like when he found out he died as Seo Gio and became a portrait. It didn't take long for him then too.

For Giovanni's death, it was an active choice he made. Him and Iser were captured after people found out about their bond. At some point during captivity, Iser grew really hungry. Gio felt that since he was dying anyway, why not offer himself as food? And so, Iser ate his teacher. It's a truly gut wrenching moment and I hope the manhwa does this scene justice.

Anyway, as for Iser's sister. She doesn't just want to erase the Sun God cult but the entirety of humanity as well because of what happened to Gio and her brother. Both her and Iser have grown to hate humanity so much so that they submerged their dimension and soon Earth

Man that's such a tragedy... But it's also interesting how Giovanni doesn't particularly playing sides. He died a martyr and the world was the price but his attitude was "welp that's all in the past no use crying over spilt milk". One village(?) wrongdoing was paid with armageddon, imagine being innocent bystander from other places tho...

I get where you're coming from and I'd say there's truth to it. It's been a while since I last read this part of the novel so I can't really say much regarding Giovanni's stance. As for the whole Armageddon stuff, there was a war between humans and mermaids soon after Gio died iirc (not sure about his sister). Even then, Iser still tried to give humans a chance even after Giovanni died. In one particular chapter of the novel, Iser described how time and time again, over the course of years, he had gone out of his way to try and reconcile with humans but he was only met with hatred. Do I think this warrants essentially erasing an entire world? Of course not but it's end didn't lie in just one community's fault but a flawed belief that ran deep. Tbh even without Giovanni dying, that dimension's end would've been the same because literally everyone but Giovanni hated mermaids so much that even when Iser was actively trying to help them, they ended up killing themselves cus they refused the aid.

Also, funnily enough, Giovanni did cry lol. It might be shown in the next chapter or so. Although he moves on easily, from how I see it, he cares a lot just that now, there really is nothing he can do even if he wanted to so he has to keep moving forward. We'll hear more about his thoughts once all three of them finally reunite

It seems, Jio isnt human anymore. He became like entity type of creature so he is really treated like a god by pretty much people of the world. Like, pretty much like a god that living amongs humans lol.
