I’ve been wanting to write a long essay about them under this listing on Mangago for the longest time because I dislike seeing my favorite couple being hated on and that recent review was the final straw on finally getting me to write this. I doubt many people will read far into this since this is just a comment so I’ll lay out the main things I will be talking about and if anyone wants to hear about it in more detail you can just read the rest after this. I really hope that this can change some minds on this couple because I really love them and I would be so happy if more people could love them as well!
1. This manga is an brief adaption from a visual novel. This manga is mainly for fans of the game seeking extra content. Many things are cut or sped up.
2. Saeki is mentally unstable and he was being influenced by supernatural forces.
3. Saeki and Midou were attracted to and admired each other before the assault occurred + addressing their reunion in general
4. Megamido is not Stockholm Syndrome
5. Midou never forgives Saeki and holds him accountable for his actions. + They still have issues which they need to improve on
6. Saeki and Midou have perfect chemistry and their personalities compliment each other excellently + moments between them in the story
7. Expansion of Saeki and Midou’s character outside Kichiku Megane and their potential
If you didn’t understand this story and dislike this couple, I highly recommend you read this! It’s very, very long because I wanted to include so many things to like about them as possible.
1 The first three chapters are a very short adaptation of a 5 hour+ route from a visual novel. This wasn’t written by the writer of the visual novel (VN), TAMAMI, and was instead written by the artist of the VN, Fuhri Misasagi. There has been some mischaracterization seen in this manga because of this, specifically in the second story in this manga.
Midou’s POV of Megamido is found in multiple official media. There is a POV of Midou in the novel covering his route and in the second story of this manga. His POV is also in the All Coupling manga, the various side stories written by TAMAMI, and in the drama CDs. Midou does have agency in this relationship. He isn’t just some blank slate character with no thoughts created just to get raped. He has a beautiful mind and I love him so much.
From the top of my mind, the correct viewing order of the Megamido story is: 1 (All cover the same story, the original game and the novel are way more in detail than the manga). Kichiku Megane, This Megamido manga (Chapters 1-3), Megamido Novel | 2. Kichiku Megane Drama CD 1 Megane Version | 3. Eyes Talk story in the Megamido Novel | 4. This Megamido manga (Chapters 4-5) | 5. Kichiku Megane R | 6. Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane Version, Passenger’s Seat Lover story in one of the Kichiku Megane novels
Any other official Megamido stories take place after Kichiku Megane, but it isn’t really specific when it takes place so the things above are a linear timeline of stories that are confirmed when it takes place.
2 This contains spoilers for Saeki’s backstory. If you don’t know, Saeki was a prodigy as a kid, he was number one in everything. However, he was bullied by everyone except his best friend. At his elementary school graduation, Saeki found out his best friend was the one who orchestrated all the bullying because he was jealous of him being good at everything. After everyone else left, Saeki was approached by Mr. R, the man that gave him the glasses as an adult. Mr. R told Saeki that he should just abandon his current self if he’s going to feel so sad and become someone else so he won’t get hurt by anyone or anything else again. Saeki felt this way and gave up on his life when he was only 12… Mr. R held out the glasses in his hand and told Saeki to place his hands on them. As he did this, Saeki’s memories and feelings of the incident began to clear away. It turns out, Megane was the true, original personality and Saeki had just been turned into Normal Katsuya. Before leaving, Mr. R told him that hate will never go away and will grow as it remains in his heart. One day, it will break free from its confinement out of hunger and thirst and until that day comes he will keep these glasses. Kichiku Megane takes place when Mr. R returns to Saeki. Saeki had no time to process his trauma and instead repressed it into the glasses. Megane is basically a traumatized child on the inside. All the negative feelings were put into the glasses and only grew inside of them as time went on so when Saeki first put on the glasses he was a very evil version of Saeki rather than his normal self.
When Saeki first wore the glasses, he did not know how to control this newly obtained power and was obsessed with what he could do. He felt like he was unstoppable and could do anything. That was until Midou came along. Midou was the only person that Megane felt he wasn’t on the same level on. He thought that conquering and dominating was the only way to make Midou his. After losing control and doing all that he did to Midou, he realized there are things that can’t be obtained simply by following one’s emotions and just taking and destroying. He learned how to control himself through loving Midou. Megane had most of his life robbed from him and had to learn to become more mature and improve himself.
I realized that this can be a message for people who feel as though they wasted their potential during their teenage and young adult years. Megane could have gone to an elite school and gotten a high paying successful job, but instead he got replaced with Normal for that time and ended up getting placed in the worst department in a subsidiary company. However, Megane was able to come back from that and turned his life around, reclaiming his life back. And got a beautiful wife (
Normal Katsuya is actually stronger than Megane in some ways. Normal Katsuya bore all the pain from the real world in Megane’s place. He’s like Megane’s protective alter.
During the events of Kichiku Megane R, his past in elementary school had come back which affected Megane deeply. Megane was unsatisfied with his weakness and wasn’t attached to his existence. He was okay with disappearing, letting another personality take over. However, he realized he might make the same mistake he had made with Midou if that happens and absolutely did not want that to happen. While Megane is suffering alone in his room, Midou comes to comfort him and hugs him! Midou tells Megane that he should rely on him sometimes and not take on everything alone. This leads to Saeki wanting to not disappear because Midou wants him to be how he is.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] I had never really been attached to my own existence. If anything, I was the sort of person far removed from such attachments. And yet, if Midou wanted me—just as I was right now...That alone might be reason enough for me to keep being who I am… This time, a clear smile played upon my lips. "I'm so glad you're here..." I didn't know if that murmur—which had slipped out like an unvoiced thought—had actually reached Midou's ears. I have Midou…As long as he is here, perhaps I can remain myself…For now, simply feeling Midou's presence and warmth right behind me was enough.]
In another scene, Megane was about to do something very bad to someone because they hurt Midou, but Midou told Megane to stop which stopped Megane from losing control. They then hugged and Megane didn’t want the hug to end because he felt like he wouldn’t be able to control himself if he stopped holding onto Midou. Midou says he can stay like this for as long as he’d like. Midou didn’t want Megane to take revenge because he felt like Megane was going to go somewhere beyond his reach and because he didn’t take revenge, Megane’s existence will stay. Midou is Megane’s attachment to this world!
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] “No matter what happens, you are still you, and I will be by your side. You and I are partners, aren't we? You don't have to hold back anymore. So show me your face. I’ll accept everything—even those feelings of yours.” ]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] I will never let go of the existence called Takanori Midou.]
You can really see how weak Megane is on the inside here and how it contrasts with how Midou is strong on both the outside and the inside. He tries to hide his weaknesses from everyone else, but lets only Midou see that side of him. During Megane’s final meeting with Mr. R, Megane finally accepted Normal Katsuya as himself and Saeki finally became his true self by accepting Normal. He also told Mr. R that he had someone he can truly rely on (Midou). So Saeki completely changed as a person during Kichiku Megane and R.
Saeki is a gentle, moe, puppy-like, doting seme in Kichiku Megane R. Though he is facing some internal conflict regarding his personality during the events of the game, there are still moments where he teases Midou and is affectionate to him. Megane loves him with all his heart and it's so adorable to see him so attached to Midou and willing to do anything for him. After the major character development he had in Kichiku Megane R, he will be even more moe and affectionate afterwards!
In fact, in the other routes, he’s even more less like himself than he is in the Midou route. Megane is an intense person and Midou is the only one that is able to stand on the same level as him. For the other routes, he had to bring himself down on the same level as the others while in Midou’s route, he brought himself up to Midou’s level, trying to reach his potential. He’s only a salaryman at MGN in the other routes, while in Midou’s route, he founded his own company and has a desire to take on the world with Midou.
In conclusion, Saeki was being heavily influenced by the effects of the evil glasses so he wasn’t his true personality yet. After he finally accepts himself in Kichiku Megane R, he becomes his true self and from now on he will be a very good lover for Midou. Though he still lacks empathy for others, likes to tease Midou a lot, doesn’t have good morals, and has other problems…
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] "In this situation, you're still going to... say that...? You're really mean..." "I thought you were fully aware that I wasn't a kind person."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "Seriously...You really are a piece of work..." Saeki: "I thought you already knew that kind of man I was." Midou: "...True enough." Midou replied with a look of resignation, and a smile broke out on both their faces.]
3 Midou’s love for Megane didn’t spawn out of nowhere. From the beginning, Midou had some sort of attraction to Saeki which was shown when he told Saeki to entertain him. In the official novel, Midou admires Megane's abilities and finds himself being reminded of him often during their one year apart. He also thinks Megane is a very strong person.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] It wasn’t a bad proposal, but it lacked impact. At times like this, Saeki would have taken the initial idea and pushed it further into…]
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] If this man named Saeki Katsuya declared it, then perhaps it was not impossible. This was not some baseless confidence born from youth. His confidence was backed by his undeniable ability, and it made me want to believe in him.]
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] This man, seven years younger than me, accomplished in such a short time a workload that would be utterly impossible for one person alone. I cannot help but be astonished.]
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] …Truly, what an overconfident man he is. Of course, I know that his confidence is not just bluster, and I believe his words will eventually become reality. Well, perhaps I am the same kind of person for going along with him.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I’ve always been impressed by that kind of initiative you have." Saeki: "You didn't stop me, though—which means you figured it would all work out, right?" Midou: "I suppose so. After all, I’m the one who entrusted the sales of a crucial new MGN product to Kikuchi’s 'dead-end' department—so I know your capabilities better than anyone."]
During their reunion, Midou felt like what happened between them was unresolved and that he couldn't move forward if they weren't addressed. Midou couldn't forget Megane from all the things he did to him, the confession, and Megane leaving him without a word. Midou also had complex emotions towards Megane during this time and wanted to figure them out. Midou saw Saeki’s name on the project plan and decided to take on the project so he could meet Saeki again. While Saeki thought that Midou didn’t want to see him again!
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] Unless I confront this smoldering thing inside me, I feel as though I’ll remain trapped in that time a year ago, unable to move forward for the rest of my life. To find out what this feeling truly is, I have to take on this project. Something inside my heart, frozen since that time, feels like it might start moving again if I see him.]
Midou is so smart that Saeki had picked Midou’s proposal out of all the other companies which shows how Saeki admires Midou’s ability. Soon after, Midou realized he had feelings for him. Like the saying, "Being close to you means being close to pain, being far away from you means being far away from happiness." Midou knew that he might get hurt being in a relationship with Megane, but he also knew that he might be throwing away lots of future happiness with this man. So he made the choice to take that risk. Midou believed Megane changed and that changed man is who Midou loves. In one of the bad endings in Kichiku Megane R, Megane does something terrible and Midou says that this isn't the Katsuya Saeki he knows which shows how he doesn't love the Megane who did the terrible things to him, but the Megane that is affectionate and kind to him.
There definitely is room for criticism on how fast they got together and other things in the story. Every Megamido fan can tell you this. However, the amount of story they could cover in the game was limited and the writers were aware of this so they decided to create a one year time jump to sort out their feelings.
Midou hearing Megane's confession was key to their reunion one year later. Midou realizes that Megane did all of this because he was obsessed with him and loved him. Before, Midou had hated Megane because he thought all of Megane's actions towards him came from deep hatred. But now, Midou discovers that Megane was his obsessive pursuer and needs time to process this shocking information. During their reunion, Midou even interpreted their past experience together as "forceful-dating." Their year apart from each other allowed the pain and hatred Midou felt toward Megane to fade away and increase the effects of Megane's confession.
Midou and Megane's first encounter wasn't good. Megane barged into Midou's office without an appointment which already made Midou unhappy and then Megane acted extremely arrogant and domineering towards Midou which made Midou dislike Megane.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] Moreover, they hadn’t even bothered to set an appointment or follow proper protocol. I had no intention of entrusting a highly anticipated new product to a group of reckless opportunists who couldn’t even follow basic business etiquette.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] I had set what I thought was an impossible sales target, yet he exceeded my expectations. I had to acknowledge his skill. However, his attitude toward me was insufferably arrogant and overconfident. Most of all, the way he looked at me—defiant, as if challenging my authority—was intolerable. It made me want to put this insolent young upstart in his place. So, I raised the stakes. I gave him an even more demanding condition. And if he couldn’t meet it—then he would have to entertain me. At the time, I thought that by humiliating him under the guise of hospitality, by forcing him to experience the ultimate disgrace, his attitude toward me would finally change.]
But as I said before, Midou was attracted to him and Megane was also attracted to him. Also, their personalities mix well together and in Kichiku Megane R, you can see how good their chemistry is. If their first encounter hadn't been so bad, there would have been many possibilities for them to develop into a beautiful love, but things ended up in the worst way. Now, love and hate are intertwined.
When they got in bed for the first time consensually, Megane made sure to ask consent and make sure Midou was comfortable taking things further. Megane was cautious the whole time even though he held so much love and passion.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] Kneeling down on one knee, he lowered his gaze to meet mine, gently touching the side of my neck. “Are you sure you won’t regret this…?” “……Yeah.” His sincere gaze locked on mine, and I nodded firmly. To say I felt no fear would be a lie. But more than that, my body longed for him—fiercely. Behind the lenses of his glasses, Saeki’s eyes narrowed. “You might remember what happened a year ago and want to run…” There was no trace of teasing in his tone. His expression seemed as though he was both asking for my consent and daring me to refuse him. For both of us, the line we were about to cross had only ever been something that humiliated me. Perhaps because Saeki was ready to erase it all for my sake, he was now giving me the chance to turn away. But I shook my head, clearly and firmly. “I don’t care. If I run now, I know I’ll regret it…” The hesitation vanished from Saeki’s eyes. Seeing that, I realized for the first time that he had indeed been wavering. “Then… you’re sure about this?” As if seeking one final confirmation, he looked deep into my eyes before slowly pressing his lips to mine. With our lips still locked, I was gently pushed down onto the bed.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] Suddenly, his lips left mine, and Saeki paused his hand on my chest. “If you’re uneasy… should I stop?” In his eyes, I saw a faint trace of concern. Was I really wearing such a frightened expression that even he could see it? “I’m fine.” I forced my best smile and pulled him closer with the arms still wrapped around him. “Don’t stop. It’s just getting good. Keep going and make me feel even better.” I whispered this close to his ear, then kissed him, taking the initiative this time. If Saeki were to stop now, I would rather drown myself completely in the sensations—so much that I wouldn’t even remember the events from a year ago.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] “When you want me so passionately like that… I don’t think I can hold back.” “Hold back…? That’s not like you.” I retorted, half in embarrassment, and he responded with a small laugh. “Maybe so. But even I can try to be considerate.”]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] "Relax. It'll hurt less that way."]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] “Are you okay?” "Ngh... ah... Yeah... I'm fine..." His hand gently stroked my back, which was trembling as though convulsing, trying to soothe me.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] "Still, your angry face is quite arousing. It really makes me want to tease you..." At Saeki's vicious smile, I felt a shiver run down my spine. "Don't worry. I won't force anything like I did before. From now on, I'll properly get your consent first."]
From now on, they will start a new kind of relationship, one built from love and not hate and humiliation.
If you don’t feel like reading it, I’ll briefly summarize it. The original text goes into way more detail.
Definition of stockholm syndrome: This syndrome refers to when the victim in a specific situation or in a criminal act gradually develops an emotional dependence on the perpetrator or criminal. The root of this emotion is that, under the premise that the perpetrator can easily dispose of the victim, or that the victim’s life and death are in the hands of the perpetrator, the perpetrator allows the victim to live on or shows small acts of kindness while the victim is completely unable to resist. The victim then feels deeply grateful and develops a psychological dependence on the perpetrator.
The definition fits for the criminal activity part and Midou finding Saeki’s change in behavior by his confession as meaningful can look like Stockholm Syndrome. But Midou’s reaction to it doesn’t fit the definition. He reacted with fear, anger, and shame rather than gratitude or dependence. During their one year away from each other, Midou’s freedom was not restricted so he had no need to please Megane to maintain his survival. In the other endings where Midou was not set free, he never yielded to Megane so just because their relationship became happy doesn’t automatically mean it’s Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome strictly requires the victim to develop positive feelings, gratitude, or psychological dependence toward the captor during the period of captivity as a survival mechanism. The shift in Midou’s feelings occurred after the release and after Saeki admits his wrongdoings.
In fact, the idea of Midou having Stockholm Syndrome would go directly against their dynamic. Midou will always resist the man who thought he could dominate everything.
5 I feel like a lot of people are under the impression that Midou forgave Saeki and now Saeki’s wrongdoings are all undone and now they are happy and in love like a fairy tale. This is really mischaracterizing Midou. Midou never forgives Saeki for what he did to him. I don’t think he ever will.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "You are responsible for taking me along with you. You changed my life, and even myself. You were the one who said you would take responsibility for that. At that time, I decided to walk together with you. So you should also fulfill that responsibility. I won't allow you to run away now.”]
Love won’t automatically heal Midou’s trauma. It will take time and this couple has all the time in the world to confront their past issues.
Midou doesn’t want to go back to the person he was before. The person he is now exists because of everything he experienced and that version of himself came to love Saeki. But Saeki thinks Midou would never have loved him because of the incident between them which is why he can’t completely believe in Midou’s love and puts a wall up.
After becoming lovers, their relationship exists on a fragile, unstable balance. Since their beginning was so terrible, they are desperately trying to strengthen their bond with each other. At the beginning of their relationship, they seem to be relying on sex to achieve this. However, it isn’t good if they use sex to smooth over every misunderstanding and conflict. That’s something they need to work on. Saeki and Midou are both people that don’t talk a lot so they lack some communication. But that leaves so much room for their relationship to grow! That’s why there’s so much fan content of them because the original media laid the foundation for such a beautiful couple.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] He still seemed skeptical, yet he didn't press the issue any further. Midou wasn't the type to pry into things, nor was he one to talk much about himself. That wasn't unique to Midou; in fact, since I rarely spoke about myself either, it had become the norm for us not to pry into each other's affairs. While that lack of communication occasionally led to minor squabbles, we had both come to accept the situation to some extent.]
6 This will discuss how they have perfect chemistry and also highlight many moments between them in the story. This is the longest section by far....Be Prepared
They are very similar people. Midou even says that he could tell what Megane was thinking because of how similar they are to each other. Fujita (One of their employees) says that he’s jealous that Midou and Saeki can communicate with each other without even talking.
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane version, Fujita] “I’m jealous. You two don’t even need to say it clearly and somehow know what the other is thinking. As I thought, for Saeki-san, Midou-san is special to him-” Midou: “Mhm!”]
[[From Megamido novel, Midou] If the opponent is Saeki, I know exactly which direction we need to take.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I had actually been thinking about going cherry blossom viewing with the company members, but you aren't exactly fond of noisy crowds, are you?" Saeki: "Yeah." Midou: "Me neither."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "Honestly. It’s all a bit over the top for just an interim report." As he says this, Midou holds up a large bag containing a box of chocolates. It was something the president of Gettenan had insisted he take as he was leaving after that lavish reception. Saeki: "Don't say that. That box of sweets is their most expensive item—the kind made strictly by reservation. It’s likely their way of showing the utmost gratitude." Midou: "I realize that, but..." Saeki: "Don't worry; aside from the two of us, everyone on our staff has a sweet tooth."]
Megane was betrayed by someone he once trusted, so he’s extremely afraid of opening his heart and giving himself over to someone else. But Midou is someone who has confidence in himself, so he can love the person he likes wholeheartedly. Before Megane, Midou probably thought of himself as a cold person, but Megane constantly shook his emotions and that’s how he finally learned to truly love someone.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] “…It’s a problem.” Saeki: “A problem? Being with me?” Midou: “If I start living with you, if we’re always together… I’ll be swept away.” Saeki: “Swept away by what?” Midou: “By you…” Saeki: “I don’t think that’s a bad thing.” Touched at the tight opening, Midou’s body trembled with tension. As Katsuya kneaded to loosen him, Midou exhaled roughly and relaxed his body, as if preparing to surrender to what would come next. Midou: “When you do things like this to me… I always end up losing control of myself… I become consumed by you, exposing such a pathetic side of myself… and I’m afraid to admit that even so, I still want to be ruined by you. You may not realize it, but that’s all I think about when I’m at your place. Every time I go there, I’m reminded of it.” Saeki: “That’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m just as consumed by you.” Midou: “That’s not it…” Muttering, Midou hung his head. Midou: “You might be able to restrain yourself, but I’ve never experienced losing control of myself like this before. So if I start staying at your place all the time… if I show you such a pathetic side of myself… I’m afraid you might grow tired of me…” Saeki: “You’re overthinking it. Even if that were the case, I wouldn’t grow tired of you. No—in fact, I’d welcome it.” Midou: “Saeki…” Saeki: “And besides, if that’s the case, then I’m the same. I’m always thinking about it—whether at work or off, I’m always thinking about being with you.” Midou: “You…” With a voice tinged with exasperation, Midou let out a small laugh. But perhaps because of the lingering tension from his confession, his expression was still stiff. Saeki: “It’s only natural to think that way. We’re lovers, after all.” Midou Takanori: “That’s true…”]
Megane’s flaw of acting independently without consulting others comes from the fact that he doesn’t trust other people. Midou is the type of person who shows trust by entrusting work to others, but Megane doesn’t trust anyone except himself.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “That’s all. I’ll handle this entire matter myself.” Mido: “Wait!” Just as I was about to return to his desk, Mido stopped me with sheer intensity. Saeki: “What is it?” Mido: “What on earth are you thinking?” Saeki: “The company’s profits. What else is there?” Mido: “That’s not like you. …I don’t know what happened between you and Sawamura. But this isn’t just your problem.” Saeki: “……” Mido: “You must know that, too. The usual you would handle something like this much more smoothly, wouldn’t you? So why aren’t you doing that with this one issue? Instead of consulting me, you’re keeping me at a distance and trying to push ahead on your own. Why?”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] “If you intend to shoulder everything on your own, then don’t bring me on board or hire any employees. You can run the company all by yourself.” Saeki: “…” Midou: “Why do you think we have this many people here?” Midou’s point was valid. There was no room for argument. Saeki: “…I’m sorry. It was my fault.” Midou: “Saeki…” Midou looked back at me, clearly stunned. He apparently hadn’t expected me to apologize so readily. Saeki: “I’ll apologize to Fujita later, too.” Midou: “Yeah, please do. Since you’re the one saying that, there must be something we don’t understand. But even so, please don’t try to shoulder all these problems by yourself.” Saeki: “…Midou” Midou: “You don’t have just me. You have employees who support you, too. Besides, if you waver, what will happen to those who follow you? You’re the representative here, and our leader. Anyway, just focus on making sure Gotten-an’s new plan goes smoothly. I’ll look into Crystal Trust’s interference.” Saeki: “But…” Midou: “Don’t worry. I’ll just look into their background. When it’s time to take action, I’ll make sure to report back to you. As long as money is involved, there’s bound to be some kind of scheme or ulterior motive at play.” Saeki: “I know you’re good at investigating that sort of thing.” Midou: “Right? So don’t worry…”]
Midou is the older and guiding lover in their relationship. He is Mother and Wife. He makes Saeki feel better.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Fujita] “Yes. At first, they said they wanted to see the president, but when I told them he wasn’t in, they said they wanted to speak with Midou-san, so…” Saeki: “Why didn’t you contact me right away?!” Fujita: “I-I’m so sorry!!” I hadn’t exactly yelled, but my anger had clearly gotten through to Fujita. Midou: “Saeki, you're back already?” Fujita: “Ah, Midou-san.” Midou, who had stepped away for a moment, returned. Fujita looked at Midou with a pleading gaze. Midou: “Don’t blame Fujita. He tried to contact you several times.” Saeki: “Is that so?” Midou: “No matter how many times he called, it was you who didn’t answer your cell phone.” At Midou’s words, I took out my cell phone. My call log showed Fujita’s name listed in rapid succession. The entries stopped just before I regained consciousness in the city this evening. Midou: “Fujita, you can go back to work. I’ll handle the rest.” Fujita: “Yes. Excuse me.” Looking somewhat worried, Fujita walked away from me and the others. Midou motioned for me to come to the window and, speaking in a quiet voice so as not to echo through the spacious office, began to explain.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] With Katsuya—who remained silent—still in his arms, Mido spoke to him hesitantly. Midou: “I can tell that you’re dealing with some kind of major problem. …It’s a very personal issue. And I also know that you’re not the kind of man who would ever rely on others. But… sometimes, you can rely on me.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Thanks to Midou, I felt like I was able to do work more fulfilling than usual after returning to the company.]
Midou is often genuinely put off because he simply cannot understand the way Megane's mind works. But at the same time, he's equally drawn to those ideas and values that exist outside the bounds of common sense. Precisely because he can't understand him, Megane becomes someone Midou can't take his eyes off of.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Indeed, until now, he had never spoken about what was in his heart to anyone—whether Midou or anyone else. There was no need for such a thing. That was why he never spoke of it. But Midou wanted him to. Saeki: “It’s not that I don’t trust you, Midou-san, or think you’re unreliable. I just don’t like showing weakness to others.” Midou: “A bit late to say that now. We’re co-managers, partners, and lovers, aren’t we? I think we can show each other our weaknesses more. Don’t you think so too?” Saeki: “I suppose. But you’re the same—you don’t show me your weaknesses either.” Midou: “My weaknesses… you’ve already seen all of them without me needing to say it.” Saeki: “That’s true. Unless there’s something else you’re hiding.” Midou: “There isn’t. But you’re different. You’re always lacking in explanations. Your way of thinking is beyond where my thoughts can reach. It’s difficult even to read you.” Saeki: “You’re making me feel like I’m being called an alien…” Midou: “It’s not that different.” Murmuring, Midou gently stroked his hair. Along with the fingers slipping into his hair, the arm of the glasses brushed against his skin. Midou: “So talk to me more. As your lover, I want to know more about you. I want you to rely on me more, and to lean on me. I wouldn’t mind any effort it takes for that.”]
Midou can always sense when something is wrong with Saeki and the same applies the other way. They both know each other better than anyone else. They have seen sides of each other nobody else has seen. They are soulmates.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "What’s the matter? That doesn't sound like you." Saeki: "You think so?" Midou "I do. Usually, I’m the one worrying about tomorrow’s schedule, while you’re the one who couldn't care less."]
[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] (To think even Midou would see through my thoughts...)]
[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “Saeki… what…’s wrong…?” Saeki: “Hm?” Caught off guard by the sudden question, I snapped back to reality. Midou was staring at me with feverish, glistening eyes. Saeki: “No… it’s nothing…” Once again, I rocked my hips violently, as if to tease Midou, digging deep inside him. Midou: “Huh! Mmm… ahh…” With his insides stimulated, Midou gasped in pleasure. Even so, his legs trembling, Midou pressed me further. Midou: “Don’t… try to brush it off…You were… spacing out… weren’t you…” Saeki: “It’s just your imagination…” A chill ran through my heart. Suppressing the unease that had begun to surface, I gently stroked Midou’s cheek with the palm of my hand. Saeki: “If you’re thinking about something like that, does that mean you still have some energy left?” In the midst of thrusting, I had been holding my penis halfway inside Midou—but now I thrust it all the way to the base in one swift motion. Midou: “Aaaah!!” Leaning forward, I forced myself inside with such force that it nearly bent Midou’s body in half. Saeki: “…Aren’t you the one who’s not concentrating?” Midou: “…Ah, ah! That’s not… what I meant… I was just… thinking about you…” Midou was sharp. He might notice something was off from this slight change.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “…Did something… happen?” There was no longer any trace of fear in Midou’s voice as he spoke again. Saeki: “Midou…” When he turned around, Midou was standing right behind him, looking puzzled. Saeki: “Why do you think that?” Midou: “Well… that’s…It’s just that… apologizing out of the blue isn’t like you.” Saeki: “Is it really that strange for me to apologize?” Midou: “Yeah…I know you enjoy that sort of behavior. It’s not your true intention… but it’s not something that just started now, and I recognize that it’s a part of who you are.” Saeki: “……” Midou: “But the usual you wouldn’t apologize even after doing something like that, and you’d never say ‘just forget about it. Besides, there’s usually a reason when you do things like that.” Saeki: “…I was just in the mood for it.” Midou: “I don’t think so. You’ve been acting a little strange ever since that cherry blossom viewing… Didn’t something actually happen that day? That’s why you told me to go out drinking with my old friends. …Isn’t that right?” Saeki: “…No. You’re just imagining things, Midou-san.” He really is a sharp observer.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] (…I'm in trouble. Midou’s intuition is so sharp. At this rate, it’s only a matter of time before he figures out what’s happening to me.)]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “What’s this, Saeki? You’ve got a kind side after all.” Saeki: “I’m always kind. The way you say that makes it sound like you think I’m a rather cold person.” Midou: “Is that not the case?” Saeki: “Well, I won’t deny it. But I do have the decency to show appreciation for my employees, after all.” Midou: “I know.” Saeki: “To tell the truth, I just wanted to be alone with you as soon as possible.” I picked up the remote control from the desk and dimmed the office lights. Midou: “You… Just when I thought you were being unusually kind, it turns out it was just ulterior motives… That makes it even worse.” Saeki: “It’s too late to tell me that now.”]
Midou is very dedicated to Saeki which is so adorable of him. He tries to do his best as a lover.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "What's wrong? Aren't you enjoying yourself?" Saeki: "Well..." Saeki: "I don't really...like cherry blossoms." [The reason for this is because Saeki’s elementary school graduation had a bunch of cherry blossom trees.] Midou: "I see… I'm sorry. If I'd known, I would have picked somewhere else… I thought this would be a nice change of pace, but I didn't do enough research." Saeki: "No. It was my fault for not saying anything when you invited me." Midou: "But still..." Saeki: "I was happy that you cared enough to invite me out like this. I'm grateful. So grateful, in fact, that I want to ravish you right here and now."] ??? What the fuck is his problem
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I'm sorry about yesterday." Saeki: "It's fine." Casually turning their backs to the office, the two stand side by side, gazing out at the scenery beyond the expansive glass window. Midou: "Even though you were the one who urged me to go, I ended up regretting not staying with you. So... I’d like to make it up to you to apologize for yesterday..." Saeki: "You don't need to worry about that. More importantly, take a look at this."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: "About that make-up gesture I mentioned this morning..." Saeki: "Hm?" I didn't grasp it immediately. It was only when he cast a searching look my way that I finally remembered. Saeki: "Oh, that. I believe I told you not to worry about it." Midou: "No, I wouldn't feel right if I didn't. So... as a way to apologize for yesterday, would it be alright if I came over to your place today?" Saeki: "To my place? Of course, I don't mind at all." Midou: "I see." He broke into a smile—one that looked genuinely happy, a rare sight for Midou. Perhaps he had been deeply concerned about leaving early last night. Saeki: "Since you say it's an apology, I suppose I can expect something? Wondering just how Midou-san will apologize to me..." I leaned in close to his ear and whispered softly. Midou: "...!!" Midou’s eyes went wide, and he looked completely taken aback. Saeki: "Is something wrong?" Midou: "...Don't go getting any vulgar ideas about this 'apology.' I intend for it to be an apology in the ordinary sense." Saeki: "Vulgar? Like what, for instance? That wasn't at all what I meant when I said that. I have no idea what kind of vulgar things Midou-san was imagining..." Midou: "Are you a child?" A vein in Midou's temple was visibly throbbing. Saeki: (Teasing this guy really is fun.) Saeki: "Well, I am younger than Midou-san, after all." I replied, my shoulders shaking as I stifled a chuckle. Midou: "...Hah. I really can't keep up with your constant nitpicking." Midou sighed, as if resigned to the situation. Yet, a smile played upon his lips.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: "I was the only one who got to enjoy myself yesterday, you see. I thought I should share that experience with you, too." Saeki: "An apology, huh...Isn't it less about an apology and more just that Midou-san wanted a drink?" Midou: "Don't say that. Just open it." Saeki: "Alright, alright, I get it. This looks like a pretty high-end wine." Since Midou had chosen it, I knew it was bound to be excellent. Saeki: "Is it a Bordeaux?" Midou: "Yeah." Inside the wooden box sat a bottle with a simple Burgundy-style shape. I picked it up and checked the label. Saeki: "Petrus..." If I recall correctly, wasn't that one of the most expensive Bordeaux wines out there? It was in a completely different price bracket—an extra digit higher—than even other luxury wines. Saeki: "...Isn't this splurging a bit too much?" Midou: "Well, I wanted to make it special since I was drinking with you." He smiled with satisfaction, seeing that I recognized the wine's value. Saeki: "So it was for your own sake after all." Midou: "Not at all. Look closely at the label." Prompted by Midou, I turned my gaze back to the bottle. Just above the chateau's name—written in red—was the vintage year in small print. Saeki: "This is..." Midou: "It's a wine from the year you were born." Saeki: "I see. So this is your gesture of sincerity." Until he pointed it out, I hadn't even realized the number I was looking at was my birth year. Midou: "Do you get it now?" Saeki: "Yeah." I looked back and forth between the wine I’d been given and Midou’s face. Saeki: "It feels just like an anniversary." Midou: "Haha, I suppose it does." Saeki: "Did you have this ready since yesterday?" Midou: "...I guess so." Knowing Midou, he almost certainly chose it thinking it had to be superior to the wine we’d had the day before. Saeki: (So, that’s why you’ve been restless since yesterday, wondering when to hand it over?) Saeki: "Heh..." Midou: "What is it?" Saeki: "I was just thinking that you really are a conscientious person." Midou: "Are you trying to say I'm old-fashioned?" Saeki leaned in close to Midou, peering right into his face. Saeki: "No, I just find that side of you cute." Midou: "D-don't tease me..." Saeki: "I mean it."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I’m sorry about last night. Those guys were pretty pushy, and I just couldn't bring myself to refuse." Whether he felt truly guilty about yesterday or the alcohol was simply going to his head, Midou apologized yet again. Saeki: "You don't need to apologize anymore." Midou: "But because of that, I ended up leaving you behind..."]
Midou is very strong and has a strong inner self. Midou never gave in to the difficulties brought by Saeki and stuck by his own beliefs. Midou values stability and balance, but Midou also enjoys the instability that Megane brings. As much as Midou hates to admit, he likes the things Megane does that irritate him. Megane is the only one that can make Midou's emotions go out of control and it's the same the other way around.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] The arrogance in his tone was infuriating—and yet, somehow, it felt comforting. It was as if I had been waiting for these arrogant words all along, and a strange mix of nostalgia and joy welled up inside me.]
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] Such bluffing and arrogance of his are very much like him, and I myself find that part of his character quite endearing.]
Midou and Megane are extremely compatible and are very strong people. Midou getting with Megane despite all of their past hardships shows how they can overcome anything. However, there are deep scars embedded in them which is sad, but it makes their relationship more intricate and they can still grow from this. They both overcome their self-righteousness, arrogance, and prejudice and learn how to become better people and confront their emotions. And in Kichiku Megane R, they successfully eliminate these dark tones from their relationship and support each other and move forward. Mutual redemption is truly an inseparable part of them.
They are pretty much equal in terms of ability. However, they have their own strengths and weaknesses and by working together, they make up for it. Megane is very impulsive and reckless so Midou has to make sure that Megane doesn’t go too far and has to look after him.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] “You’re still as forceful and overconfident as ever. Have you not considered the possibility that I might refuse?” “You’ll come. Because it’s you.” This man, declaring it with a relaxed smile, must have absolutely believed that I would not refuse. Although I thought he was being ridiculous, it was also true that there was a part of me that felt a future walking alongside this man sounded interesting. Perhaps he had even calculated that far ahead. If that was the case, there was only one answer I should give this man. I let out a small sigh and steeled my resolve. “…Fine. I’ll go along with you. If someone as overconfident and arrogant as you were at the top, I’d feel sorry for the people working under you.” “Then it’s decided.” I looked back into the eyes staring straight at me with the same intensity. What kind of future could this man see ahead? And what kind of expression would the future me, standing beside him, have? “With you, I could even take over the world.” “Yeah.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane, Midou] “I certainly acknowledge that you are indeed talented. But even if the results are good, I’m not sure I like how forceful your approach is. It’s only okay now because I’m covering for you, but sooner or later, you’re going to trip up. Seriously…”
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "I found myself thinking how glad I am to have you by my side." Midou: "W-What? All of a sudden..." Saeki: "I mean exactly what I said. It’s true that I would have founded this company even if I hadn't reunited with you… But I realized I wouldn't be feeling this way if you weren't right here beside me. Take the new plan, for instance—I couldn't have gotten an agreement reached in such a short time on my own. It was thanks to your backing, Midou-san." Midou: "...It’s unsettling. Being praised like that by you." Saeki: "That’s a bit hurtful." Midou: "Then you should just be honest more often." Saeki: "I could say the exact same thing to you. Especially when we're in bed..." Midou: "Saeki!" Saeki: "Heh..." Midou: "Hahaha..."]
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] Working together like this, I can clearly see how capable he is. His work is without waste, and he even picks up on unspoken intentions and acts accordingly. I have never thought working with someone could be this smooth. Surely, he must feel the same about me.]
They are really funny when Saeki teases Midou.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "Midou-san. You’ve been at the bar until this hour—that means you’ve had quite a bit to drink, doesn't it?" Midou: "I have, but..." Midou seemed taken aback, as if wondering why Saeki was asking something so obvious. Saeki: "That’s exactly why." Midou: "What do you mean?" Saeki: "You might not realize it, but you get incredibly seductive when you're drunk. If I saw you like that, I wouldn't be able to let you go until morning." Midou: "Y-You..."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "Understood. I'll be waiting in the room. I'm looking forward to it. Make sure you take a shower first.” Midou: "S-Saeki!!" At the sound of his voice, the employees who were preparing to leave for the day all turned to look at them at once.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “Can I take advantage of your kindness today and ask you for something?” Midou: “Hm? Yeah… go ahead. If it’s something I can do.” Pulling his lips away from around Midou’s ear, he looked straight into his eyes. Saeki: “Then… I want to hold you, here and now.” Midou: “—! I-idiot, this is the office. What are you thinking!?”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “No good. I can’t stop myself anymore…” Midou: “Honestly, you… After everything that happened, I thought you’d become more docile—at least grown a little. And yet you’re acting like a selfish child!”]
I love how they both find each other very attractive. They look so good together and I think they compliment each other’s appearance. Saeki has light hair while Midou has dark hair. Saeki has messy hair while Midou has neat hair. They are both tall, but Midou is slightly taller than Saeki. Midou’s also a bit more buffer than Saeki which is understandable since Midou canonically works out at the gym often. This goes into headcanon territory, but I think Midou would have sharper features and fox-like eyes. I think Megane’s features would be more softer than Midou's, but still enough to where he looks masculine. His features can’t be too masculine because he shares the same body with the ultimate uke Normal Katsuya.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “What’s wrong? Are you that captivated by my face?” Midou: “…” *Tsundere Blushing*]
As I mentioned before, Midou changed as a person because of Saeki and doesn’t want to go back. I love his character development.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "So? You had a good time with your old friends, didn't you?" Midou: "Well... actually..." Saeki: "You didn't enjoy it?" Midou: "Even though you’d gone out of your way to encourage me to go, it wasn't really..." Saeki: "Did something unpleasant come up?" Midou: "It’s not that… It wasn't that anything went particularly wrong, but..." Mido hesitated, sounding somewhat bewildered himself. I filled his wine glass and waited silently for him to continue. Midou: "Meeting up with them after all this time made me realize something." Saeki: "Realize something?" Midou: "That I used to cling to some pretty trivial values." Saeki: "...Where is this coming from all of a sudden?" Midou: "At first, we were just talking about our work and how things had been going lately. But as the conversation went on, what they were saying started to sound like nothing more than bragging—trapped in those same trivial values. I hadn't noticed it at all back when we used to see each other all the time. But the moment I realized it, I suddenly felt a sense of emptiness." Saeki: "And that's why you couldn't enjoy yourself?" Midou: "Yeah." Moistening his lips with the wine filling his glass, Midou continued speaking. As if trying to pour out the feelings that had been pent up inside him. Midou: "Is it because I’ve changed...?" Saeki: "That... might be it." Saeki: (I don't know how fully he accepts it, but I’m the one who caused the change in him—the one who made him this way...) Saeki: "Do you regret it?" I downed the remaining half of the wine in one go and set the glass on the table. Leaning in even closer, I peered right into Mido's face. Midou: "No, that's not it. I have no complaints about who I am now. It's just..." Saeki: "Just?" Midou: "Meeting them made me realize just how much I've changed, and it left me a bit unsettled." Midou: "I don't enjoy meeting up with old friends anymore. I don't see any benefit in talking to them. I realized that spending time with you like this is far more meaningful." Saeki: "Midou-san..." Midou: "I suppose I knew that all along, though..." I gently touched the back of Midou's hand with my fingertips as he murmured those words, as if convincing himself. Midou: "...Hm?" I slid my fingers from the tips holding the wine glass stem up across the back of his hand. As our hands enveloped the single glass together, Katsuya gazed into Midou's eyes, then narrowed his own in satisfaction. Saeki: "Is that why you came to my place last night?" Midou: "...Yeah. I found myself having an overwhelming desire to be with you rather than them." Midou: "It was a selfish thing to do..." Saeki: "Not at all. Though, you could have just said that yesterday. If you told me something that made me that happy, there's no telling what I might have done."]
Midou is a tsundere, but he isn’t like the other tsundere ukes I’ve seen. Midou can be dominant and take the initiative sometimes depending on his mood and the situation. He also has to play the role of the mature and guiding lover for Saeki. Sometimes he even teases Saeki or finds him cute! I feel like he would be more tsundere-like at the beginning of their relationship, but as they become closer, Midou would be more and more open and taking the initiative. There are some characterizations of Midou in fan creations that make him more shy and hesitant, but I prefer it when he’s more determined and dominant.
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] Holding tight, I pressed my lips to his neck, then hurriedly to his earlobe. “What’s this? You’re awfully forward tonight, aren’t you?” “Even I don’t always want to just be the one acted upon. Sometimes I want to throw you off balance myself.” As I said it, I chuckled. And so did he. “Then I’d better answer that spirit of yours.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “It’s rare to see you spacing out like this. Aren’t you working yourself a little too hard? Pull yourself together, President.” In a rare, teasing tone, Midou pats me on the shoulder. Saeki: “I told you to stop calling me that.” I let out a slightly exaggerated sigh and gently brush away the hand resting on my shoulder. Saeki: “I may be your superior on paper, but I consider us equals in terms of our positions.” Midou flashes an exasperated smile, as if he’d expected that response all along.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R; ImageWHY IS HE SO MAD IM CRYING: https://postimg.cc/CBfFSyyW ; Saeki] Standing beside me, pursing my lips, Midou was shrugging his shoulders. Saeki: “What’s so funny?” Midou: “Nothing. I just thought the timing was incredible.” Saeki: “Seriously…” Though he fell silent with a sullen expression, he leaned in close to Midou’s ear and whispered in a low voice. Saeki: “I guess we’ll have to continue this back in the room.” Midou: “Yeah.” Saeki: “Anyway, that really killed the mood. Should we go grab a bite to eat first?” Midou: “That sounds good. Should we invite Fujita, too?” Saeki: “…If we get interrupted any more than this, I won’t be able to handle it.” Midou: “Seriously, you’re such a child in that regard.” Saeki: “Leave me alone.” Saeki: “But in return, you’d better be prepared for tonight—to make up for being interrupted just now.” Midou: “Yeah.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane Version, Midou] “Ah.. Heh…hehe…” Saeki: “What's so funny?” Midou: “It’s nothing, I finally see the reason.” So that’s why he was in such a bad mood the whole time. Even this man has some cute sides. Saeki: “Midou-san?” Midou: “It's nothing. Don't mind me.”]
They both talk about being one which goes to show just how connected and close they are.
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 1 Megane version, Saeki] “From now on, we will always be together. You and I will be one entity.”
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “Like this… to feel our bodies… melting together… we don’t need a reason…” Midou: “Ah… ah…” Saeki: “Don’t think about anything… just lose yourself in me… and melt as you are…” Midou: “…You…” Saeki: “I’m the same… I feel like I’ll be consumed by you… melt away…”]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane version, Saeki] “I want more of you.. the more I embrace you.. the more I desire for you..” Midou: “Me too.. I want to merge..and become one with you…” Saeki: “Me too.. enter you ..deeper...with you..” Saeki: “I like you.” *Kiss* Midou: “Me too. I love you..more than anyone..” Saeki: “I too, love you more than anyone else..Takanori..”]
Saeki and Midou enjoy spending time together all the time. One of the things they enjoy is their time in bed together. Saeki made Midou feel things he never thought he could feel before. Midou really loves kisses too and Saeki is very good at them!
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] This man… what kind of kiss is this…? Such a passionate, seductive kiss… ]
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] I couldn't believe how desperately I wanted to kiss him. No matter how many times we kissed, it was never enough. As though I had become addicted to his kisses, I continued seeking Saeki's lips endlessly, without ever growing tired. Every time our lips met, my love for Saeki grew stronger. I didn't even understand why I felt such overwhelming affection for him. I held onto him and prayed that I could remain forever immersed in the pleasure and happiness he gave me.]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 1 Megane version, Midou] “Putting that aside, you really had me worried this whole month” Saeki: “Are you angry Midou-san?” Midou: “Of course!” Saeki: “Then, I shall challenge your anger with this” *Kiss* Saeki: “Has your anger lessened?” Midou: “...Just a little”]
It’s really funny seeing Midou talk about how good Saeki is in bed.
[[From Megamido Novel Eyes Talk, Midou] And not only in work—his technique at night is considerable as well. I don’t know where he learned it, or whether it’s innate, but unwilling as I may be to admit it, ever since then I have been completely at his mercy in bed.]
These lines are from one of my favorite Megamido fics. I know this isn’t canon, but I hope this can give you more of an idea of their characters and dynamic because I love this description so much.
[People said physical desire was shallow. But who could deny the intensity of the feelings within him, strong enough to make his chest ache? Midou had once suffered greatly from the conflict between mind and body. Because of that, he understood more than anyone the preciousness of harmony between them. Whether loving or being loved, holding or being held, enjoying or being enjoyed–everything gained meaning because of that man behind him. Only after meeting Saeki had Midou learned that the human body could possess such soul-shaking power.]
[Closing his eyes, Midou savored the wondrous changes occurring within his body. He had once feared his own body. The unfamiliar, overwhelming pleasure had left him lost and helpless. But Midou Takanori was no longer afraid. He knew himself, body and soul alike. He had mastery over his emotions and desires, and felt no embarrassment because of them. Because he learned to love Saeki, Midou had finally learned how to love himself.]
[Saeki was not a sharp-beaked sandpiper. The softness and vulnerability Midou exposed were cherished and protected little by little. In the same way, Midou knew Saeki’s weaknesses and was willing to spend his entire life protecting them. At this moment, he needed them to join more closely together, to express their love through their bodies. He needed to feel Saeki’s lips covering his own. Saeki’s heart beating against his chest. Saeki’s hand holding his like a silent promise. He needed Saeki inside him, to become one with him as completely as possible.]
[[Saeki:] “...I want to see you lose control because of me.” Midou raised an eyebrow and smiled, half affectionate, half teasing. “You only know one way to do things?” Biting his lip, Saeki wore a disgruntled expression. His brow furrowed, and there was even a trace of grievance in his voice. “You clearly like it when I’m rougher.” “Yes, I do.” Midou admitted openly, wrapping his legs tightly around Saeki’s waist once more. “--But I also like gradually going mad for you bit by bit, savoring every sensation of you inside me, kissing you while we make love, staying together until neither of us can breathe…”]
[His lover’s taste was like a well-aged wine–rich, mellow, full-bodied. Midou drank it in greedily, like a traveler in the desert discovering an oasis, and Saeki was the sweetest spring of water. “I love you,” he said. “This was my choice, and I’ve never regretted it.” A series of subtle changes flickered across Saeki’s face before settling into an expression Midou had seen on Christmas Eve several days ago, and on countless nights and days before that–the expression of someone struck by love. This man, Saeki Katsuya, was completely, wholeheartedly, hopelessly in love with him.]
This line from the Megamido novel relates to the text above. I like how Midou no longer associates sexual pleasure as something bad, but rather as something to immerse himself in.
[[From Megamido Novel, Midou] The thing that had once given me unbearable pain now gave me the greatest pleasure imaginable.]
Saeki is the only person Midou lets top him and nobody else. I really love characters who are normally semes, but only get topped by that special person.
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] "Still, you're so tight... You haven't used this place with anyone over the past year?" "Of... course... not. Ngh... kh... hah... There's... no way... I'd do... something like this... with anyone... except you..."]
BELOW IS MY FAVORITE MEGAMIDO SCENE EVER Yes I had to include this. There are fanarts of this scene ILike . https://mapp.api.weibo.cn/fx/b2701b03f12b5edc307e20220687f47c.html https://b23.tv/YkBpCbh http://xhslink.com/o/526jntsueHG [[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “No matter what, you are still you. That, I can guarantee.” Saeki: “Hearing you say that helps.” Midou: “Now that I think about it, since we reunited, I haven’t seen you take off your glasses… Will you show me, for the first time in a while?” Saeki: “Isn’t it fine like this?” Midou: “…You’re the one who said you can still be yourself without them.” So close that not only their noses but even their lips were about to touch, Midou gazed intently. His gaze was so intense it seemed to see through everything within me. Midou: “I want to see both versions of you.” Saeki: “Understood.” Midou’s fingers timidly pinched the arm of his glasses. Midou: “…May I take them off?” Saeki: “Go ahead.” Midou’s hand touched the frame and slowly pulled it forward. With nothing blocking my face anymore, Midou stared at me intently once again. Removing the glasses somewhat awkwardly, he leaned even closer now that they were gone. Saeki: “Am I still a good-looking man without glasses?” Midou: “Heh… don’t get conceited.” As if that were a signal, their lips met without either of them clearly initiating it.]
Lastly for this section, From the author’s note in my favorite Megamido fic: [I believe they’ll definitely get a happy ending. No matter the circumstances, no matter their past. As long as Midou is still Midou, alive and breathing, As long as Megane is still Megane — truly in love with Midou — No matter how much of a bastard he might be, he’ll still try to become a better person for Midou. There’s nothing they can’t overcome together. Hardship and conflict — they’ll get through it, side by side. Midou pinched Katsuya’s cheek and, before the other could protest, asked very seriously: “Do you want me to be happy?” Katsuya: “…Of course I do.” “Then that’s enough,” Midou said with a smirk that, as always, seemed to look down on the entire world — but this time, his eyes were fixed steadily on Katsuya, unwavering. “As long as you want it, you can make it happen. If you feel like there’s no way… then you’re just not trying hard enough.” —And that’s really all it comes down to. Midou has always been strong. And as for Megane — I think he did really well here. Even if he was a mess at times, he truly had Midou’s best interests at heart. He made mistakes. And making up for those mistakes is harder than anything. But since he tried so hard… Midou isn’t the kind of person who’d let that effort go to waste. They’ll definitely be happy. The trauma Midou suffered — even in a happy-ending route — was never easy. Everything he experienced in this fic could very well happen in a so-called HE route too. And if they’re going to
...be truly happy, facing the past is something they have to do. But neither of them are the kind to stay stuck forever. They will be happy. I believe that. Even ten years from now, I’ll still believe that.]
7 It is flawed, but it’s not bad. Megamido fans are fascinated by the characters and their relationship. They’ve created so many things to expand upon them. I made a fanfic recommendation doc in case anyone wants to read some, my favorites I have translated into English. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qN_xZEIruI6dP1UQCR-ohXmnMlE8fF7FO78tdegsWss/edit?usp=sharing To the person that wants a normal relationship with Midou, read fanfiction! I’ve read so many where Saeki and Midou start a relationship without any kind of sexual assault. They really do have chemistry together and would have became lovers if things didn’t go wrong.
There is also so much beautiful fanart of them. I’m really amazed by how much there is. Megamido actually has more doujinishi than any other BLVN couple [Source is from Bilibili]. Megamido has more posts on Pixiv and Xiaohongshu than most other BLVN couples and more than some entire BLVNs. I highly recommend looking up “克御” (克御 is Megamido’s Chinese name) on Xiaohongshu to see beautiful fanarts of Megamido (Link: https://www.xiaohongshu.com/topic/normal/63ea5e89f109760001523be3). You can also find fan content on Bilibili, Weibo, LOFTER, Twitter, and Pixiv. Really old Megamido videos can be found on Niconico and Youtube. On non-Chinese sites you’ll want to look up “メガミド” (Megamido in katakana). Megamido route gameplay can actually be found on Bilibili, though it’s in Chinese and censored, but you can watch it if you just want to listen to the voices or watch their sprites. Here is my Bilibili playlist of Megamido: https://space.bilibili.com/3493087322048563/favlist?fid=3646844063&ftype=create
Overall, Midou and Megane of Midou's route is a complex relationship. You can do so many things with them. Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of the toxic relationship between them. That’s something great about this couple, you have their toxic relationship and you also have their very healthy and close relationship. I truly believe they are soulmates that are bound together by fate. But that bound may not always be good depending on the timeline. However, when that bound is good, as Megane said at the end of their route together, "With you, we can have the whole world."
This couple is from a really old yaoi from 2007 so there will be outdated things that you wouldn’t find in today’s yaoi. I don’t really know how to put it into words, but I think you can tell by reading.
But hey, maybe Megamido isn't for you. And that's fine! I just hope that this could give you a better sense of Midou's (x Megane) route in Kichiku Megane. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. I just felt like adding more explanation onto this couple since the manga skips a lot. If anyone has any questions about Megamido feel free to ask me. I do not play about Megamido.
Sometimes don’t take them too seriously (but also take them seriously). Like I literally be laughing so hard at how much of a freak Megane is and it’s funny how Midou puts up with his bs.
I will reply to this comment with anything new I created for example if I finally finish the second drama cd video.

The first three chapters are a very short adaptation of a 5 hour+ route from a visual novel.
Link to my translated video of the first drama cd: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oaQNTY1fIJqTYwNAxPJt4M35UW7Jhm0y/view?usp=sharing
I plan to create a translated video of the second drama cd one day, but it won’t be any time soon.
Any other official Megamido stories take place after Kichiku Megane, but it isn’t really specific when it takes place so the things above are a linear timeline of stories that are confirmed when it takes place.

This contains spoilers for Saeki’s backstory.
"I'm so glad you're here..."
I didn't know if that murmur—which had slipped out like an unvoiced thought—had actually reached Midou's ears.
You're really mean..."
"I thought you were fully aware that I wasn't a kind person."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "Seriously...You really are a piece of work..."
Saeki: "I thought you already knew that kind of man I was."
Midou: "...True enough." Midou replied with a look of resignation, and a smile broke out on both their faces.]
3
Midou’s love for Megane didn’t spawn out of nowhere.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I’ve always been impressed by that kind of initiative you have."
Saeki: "You didn't stop me, though—which means you figured it would all work out, right?"
Midou: "I suppose so.
“Are you sure you won’t regret this…?”
“……Yeah.”
His sincere gaze locked on mine, and I nodded firmly. To say I felt no fear would be a lie. But more than that, my body longed for him—fiercely.
Behind the lenses of his glasses, Saeki’s eyes narrowed. “You might remember what happened a year ago and want to run…”
There was no trace of teasing in his tone.
If I run now, I know I’ll regret it…”
The hesitation vanished from Saeki’s eyes.
“If you’re uneasy… should I stop?”
In his eyes, I saw a faint trace of concern. Was I really wearing such a frightened expression that even he could see it?
“I’m fine.” I forced my best smile and pulled him closer with the arms still wrapped around him. “Don’t stop. It’s just getting good. Keep going and make me feel even better.”
I whispered this close to his ear, then kissed him, taking the initiative this time. If Saeki were to stop now, I would rather drown myself completely in the sensations—so much that I wouldn’t even remember the events from a year ago.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] “When you want me so passionately like that… I don’t think I can hold back.”
“Hold back…? That’s not like you.” I retorted, half in embarrassment, and he responded with a small laugh.
“Maybe so. But even I can try to be considerate.”]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] "Relax. It'll hurt less that way."]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] “Are you okay?”
"Ngh... ah... Yeah... I'm fine..."
His hand gently stroked my back, which was trembling as though convulsing, trying to soothe me.]
[[From Megamido Novel, Saeki] "Still, your angry face is quite arousing. It really makes me want to tease you..."
At Saeki's vicious smile, I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"Don't worry. I won't force anything like I did before. From now on, I'll properly get your consent first."]
From now on, they will start a new kind of relationship, one built from love and not hate and humiliation.

Midou did not develop Stockholm Syndrome just because their relationship involves sexual assault and captivity. I recommend reading this analysis from LOFTER, I translated it into a google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-8K7ZjtpF1nCSqMvJ4EOjNFXW0N7WWG0qOiPLYXg7o8/edit?usp=sharing
5
I feel like a lot of people are under the impression that Midou forgave Saeki and now Saeki’s wrongdoings are all undone and now they are happy and in love like a fairy tale.
6
This will discuss how they have perfect chemistry and also highlight many moments between them in the story.
As I thought, for Saeki-san, Midou-san is special to him-”
Midou: “Mhm!”]
[[From Megamido novel, Midou] If the opponent is Saeki, I know exactly which direction we need to take.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I had actually been thinking about going cherry blossom viewing with the company members, but you aren't exactly fond of noisy crowds, are you?"
Saeki: "Yeah."
Midou: "Me neither."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "Honestly. It’s all a bit over the top for just an interim report."
As he says this, Midou holds up a large bag containing a box of chocolates. It was something the president of Gettenan had insisted he take as he was leaving after that lavish reception.
Saeki: "Don't say that. That box of sweets is their most expensive item—the kind made strictly by reservation. It’s likely their way of showing the utmost gratitude."
Midou: "I realize that, but..."
Saeki: "Don't worry; aside from the two of us, everyone on our staff has a sweet tooth."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] “…It’s a problem.”
Saeki: “A problem? Being with me?”
Midou: “If I start living with you, if we’re always together… I’ll be swept away.”
Saeki: “Swept away by what?”
Midou: “By you…”
Saeki: “I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
Touched at the tight opening, Midou’s body trembled with tension.
Every time I go there, I’m reminded of it.”
Saeki: “That’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m just as consumed by you.”
Midou: “That’s not it…”
Muttering, Midou hung his head.
Midou: “You might be able to restrain yourself, but I’ve never experienced losing control of myself like this before. So if I start staying at your place all the time… if I show you such a pathetic side of myself… I’m afraid you might grow tired of me…”
Saeki: “You’re overthinking it. Even if that were the case, I wouldn’t grow tired of you. No—in fact, I’d welcome it.”
Midou: “Saeki…”
Saeki: “And besides, if that’s the case, then I’m the same. I’m always thinking about it—whether at work or off, I’m always thinking about being with you.”
Midou: “You…”
With a voice tinged with exasperation, Midou let out a small laugh. But perhaps because of the lingering tension from his confession, his expression was still stiff.
Saeki: “It’s only natural to think that way. We’re lovers, after all.”
Midou Takanori: “That’s true…”]
Megane’s flaw of acting independently without consulting others comes from the fact that he doesn’t trust other people. Midou is the type of person who shows trust by entrusting work to others, but Megane doesn’t trust anyone except himself.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “That’s all. I’ll handle this entire matter myself.”
Mido: “Wait!”
Just as I was about to return to his desk, Mido stopped me with sheer intensity.
Saeki: “What is it?”
Mido: “What on earth are you thinking?”
Saeki: “The company’s profits. What else is there?”
Mido: “That’s not like you. …I don’t know what happened between you and Sawamura. But this isn’t just your problem.”
Saeki: “……”
Mido: “You must know that, too.
You can run the company all by yourself.”
Saeki: “…”
Midou: “Why do you think we have this many people here?”
Midou’s point was valid. There was no room for argument.
Saeki: “…I’m sorry. It was my fault.”
Midou: “Saeki…”
Midou looked back at me, clearly stunned. He apparently hadn’t expected me to apologize so readily.
Saeki: “I’ll apologize to Fujita later, too.”
Midou: “Yeah, please do. Since you’re the one saying that, there must be something we don’t understand. But even so, please don’t try to shoulder all these problems by yourself.”
Saeki: “…Midou”
Midou: “You don’t have just me. You have employees who support you, too. Besides, if you waver, what will happen to those who follow you? You’re the representative here, and our leader. Anyway, just focus on making sure Gotten-an’s new plan goes smoothly. I’ll look into Crystal Trust’s interference.”
Saeki: “But…”
Midou: “Don’t worry. I’ll just look into their background. When it’s time to take action, I’ll make sure to report back to you. As long as money is involved, there’s bound to be some kind of scheme or ulterior motive at play.”
Saeki: “I know you’re good at investigating that sort of thing.”
Midou: “Right? So don’t worry…”]
Midou is the older and guiding lover in their relationship. He is Mother and Wife. He makes Saeki feel better.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Fujita] “Yes. At first, they said they wanted to see the president, but when I told them he wasn’t in, they said they wanted to speak with Midou-san, so…”
Saeki: “Why didn’t you contact me right away?!”
Fujita: “I-I’m so sorry!!”
I hadn’t exactly yelled, but my anger had clearly gotten through to Fujita.
Midou: “Saeki, you're back already?”
Fujita: “Ah, Midou-san.”
Midou, who had stepped away for a moment, returned. Fujita looked at Midou with a pleading gaze.
Midou: “Don’t blame Fujita. He tried to contact you several times.”
Saeki: “Is that so?”
Midou: “No matter how many times he called, it was you who didn’t answer your cell phone.”
At Midou’s words, I took out my cell phone. My call log showed Fujita’s name listed in rapid succession. The entries stopped just before I regained consciousness in the city this evening.
Midou: “Fujita, you can go back to work. I’ll handle the rest.”
Fujita: “Yes. Excuse me.”
Looking somewhat worried, Fujita walked away from me and the others.
I just don’t like showing weakness to others.”
Midou: “A bit late to say that now. We’re co-managers, partners, and lovers, aren’t we? I think we can show each other our weaknesses more. Don’t you think so too?”
Saeki: “I suppose. But you’re the same—you don’t show me your weaknesses either.”
Midou: “My weaknesses… you’ve already seen all of them without me needing to say it.”
Saeki: “That’s true. Unless there’s something else you’re hiding.”
Midou: “There isn’t. But you’re different. You’re always lacking in explanations. Your way of thinking is beyond where my thoughts can reach. It’s difficult even to read you.”
Saeki: “You’re making me feel like I’m being called an alien…”
Midou: “It’s not that different.”
Murmuring, Midou gently stroked his hair.
That doesn't sound like you."
Saeki: "You think so?"
Midou "I do. Usually, I’m the one worrying about tomorrow’s schedule, while you’re the one who couldn't care less."]
[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] (To think even Midou would see through my thoughts...)]
[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “Saeki… what…’s wrong…?”
Saeki: “Hm?”
Caught off guard by the sudden question, I snapped back to reality. Midou was staring at me with feverish, glistening eyes.
Saeki: “No… it’s nothing…”
Once again, I rocked my hips violently, as if to tease Midou, digging deep inside him.
Midou: “Huh! Mmm… ahh…”
With his insides stimulated, Midou gasped in pleasure. Even so, his legs trembling, Midou pressed me further.
Midou: “Don’t… try to brush it off…You were… spacing out… weren’t you…”
Saeki: “It’s just your imagination…”
A chill ran through my heart. Suppressing the unease that had begun to surface, I gently stroked Midou’s cheek with the palm of my hand.
Saeki: “If you’re thinking about something like that, does that mean you still have some energy left?”
In the midst of thrusting, I had been holding my penis halfway inside Midou—but now I thrust it all the way to the base in one swift motion.
Midou: “Aaaah!!”
Leaning forward, I forced myself inside with such force that it nearly bent Midou’s body in half.
Saeki: “…Aren’t you the one who’s not concentrating?”
Midou: “…Ah, ah! That’s not… what I meant… I was just… thinking about you…”
Midou was sharp. He might notice something was off from this slight change.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “…Did something… happen?”
There was no longer any trace of fear in Midou’s voice as he spoke again.
Saeki: “Midou…”
When he turned around, Midou was standing right behind him, looking puzzled.
Saeki: “Why do you think that?”
Midou: “Well… that’s…It’s just that… apologizing out of the blue isn’t like you.”
Saeki: “Is it really that strange for me to apologize?”
Midou: “Yeah…I know you enjoy that sort of behavior. It’s not your true intention… but it’s not something that just started now, and I recognize that it’s a part of who you are.”
Saeki: “……”
Midou: “But the usual you wouldn’t apologize even after doing something like that, and you’d never say ‘just forget about it. Besides, there’s usually a reason when you do things like that.”
Saeki: “…I was just in the mood for it.”
Midou: “I don’t think so. You’ve been acting a little strange ever since that cherry blossom viewing… Didn’t something actually happen that day? That’s why you told me to go out drinking with my old friends. …Isn’t that right?”
Saeki: “…No. You’re just imagining things, Midou-san.”
He really is a sharp observer.]
You’ve got a kind side after all.”
Saeki: “I’m always kind. The way you say that makes it sound like you think I’m a rather cold person.”
Midou: “Is that not the case?”
Saeki: “Well, I won’t deny it. But I do have the decency to show appreciation for my employees, after all.”
Midou: “I know.”
Saeki: “To tell the truth, I just wanted to be alone with you as soon as possible.”
I picked up the remote control from the desk and dimmed the office lights.
Midou: “You… Just when I thought you were being unusually kind, it turns out it was just ulterior motives… That makes it even worse.”
Saeki: “It’s too late to tell me that now.”]
Midou is very dedicated to Saeki which is so adorable of him. He tries to do his best as a lover.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "What's wrong? Aren't you enjoying yourself?"
Saeki: "Well..."
Saeki: "I don't really...like cherry blossoms." [The reason for this is because Saeki’s elementary school graduation had a bunch of cherry blossom trees.]
Midou: "I see… I'm sorry. If I'd known, I would have picked somewhere else… I thought this would be a nice change of pace, but I didn't do enough research."
Saeki: "No. It was my fault for not saying anything when you invited me."
Midou: "But still..."
Saeki: "I was happy that you cared enough to invite me out like this. I'm grateful. So grateful, in fact, that I want to ravish you right here and now."] ??? What the fuck is his problem
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I'm sorry about yesterday."
Saeki: "It's fine."
Casually turning their backs to the office, the two stand side by side, gazing out at the scenery beyond the expansive glass window.
Midou: "Even though you were the one who urged me to go, I ended up regretting not staying with you. So... I’d like to make it up to you to apologize for yesterday..."
Saeki: "You don't need to worry about that. More importantly, take a look at this."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: "About that make-up gesture I mentioned this morning..."
Saeki: "Hm?"
I didn't grasp it immediately. It was only when he cast a searching look my way that I finally remembered.
Saeki: "Oh, that. I believe I told you not to worry about it."
Midou: "No, I wouldn't feel right if I didn't. So... as a way to apologize for yesterday, would it be alright if I came over to your place today?"
Saeki: "To my place? Of course, I don't mind at all."
Midou: "I see."
He broke into a smile—one that looked genuinely happy, a rare sight for Midou. Perhaps he had been deeply concerned about leaving early last night.
Saeki: "Since you say it's an apology, I suppose I can expect something? Wondering just how Midou-san will apologize to me..."
I leaned in close to his ear and whispered softly.
Midou: "...!!"
Midou’s eyes went wide, and he looked completely taken aback.
Saeki: "Is something wrong?"
Midou: "...Don't go getting any vulgar ideas about this 'apology.' I intend for it to be an apology in the ordinary sense."
Saeki: "Vulgar? Like what, for instance? That wasn't at all what I meant when I said that. I have no idea what kind of vulgar things Midou-san was imagining..."
Midou: "Are you a child?"
A vein in Midou's temple was visibly throbbing.
Saeki: (Teasing this guy really is fun.)
Saeki: "Well, I am younger than Midou-san, after all."
I replied, my shoulders shaking as I stifled a chuckle.
Midou: "...Hah. I really can't keep up with your constant nitpicking."
Midou sighed, as if resigned to the situation. Yet, a smile played upon his lips.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: "I was the only one who got to enjoy myself yesterday, you see. I thought I should share that experience with you, too."
Saeki: "An apology, huh...Isn't it less about an apology and more just that Midou-san wanted a drink?"
Midou: "Don't say that. Just open it."
Saeki: "Alright, alright, I get it. This looks like a pretty high-end wine."
Since Midou had chosen it, I knew it was bound to be excellent.
Saeki: "Is it a Bordeaux?"
Midou: "Yeah."
Inside the wooden box sat a bottle with a simple Burgundy-style shape. I picked it up and checked the label.
Saeki: "Petrus..."
If I recall correctly, wasn't that one of the most expensive Bordeaux wines out there? It was in a completely different price bracket—an extra digit higher—than even other luxury wines.
Saeki: "...Isn't this splurging a bit too much?"
Midou: "Well, I wanted to make it special since I was drinking with you."
He smiled with satisfaction, seeing that I recognized the wine's value.
Saeki: "So it was for your own sake after all."
Midou: "Not at all. Look closely at the label."
Prompted by Midou, I turned my gaze back to the bottle. Just above the chateau's name—written in red—was the vintage year in small print.
Saeki: "This is..."
Midou: "It's a wine from the year you were born."
Saeki: "I see. So this is your gesture of sincerity."
Until he pointed it out, I hadn't even realized the number I was looking at was my birth year.
Midou: "Do you get it now?"
Saeki: "Yeah."
I looked back and forth between the wine I’d been given and Midou’s face.
Saeki: "It feels just like an anniversary."
Midou: "Haha, I suppose it does."
Saeki: "Did you have this ready since yesterday?"
Midou: "...I guess so."
Knowing Midou, he almost certainly chose it thinking it had to be superior to the wine we’d had the day before.
Saeki: (So, that’s why you’ve been restless since yesterday, wondering when to hand it over?)
Saeki: "Heh..."
Midou: "What is it?"
Saeki: "I was just thinking that you really are a conscientious person."
Midou: "Are you trying to say I'm old-fashioned?"
Saeki leaned in close to Midou, peering right into his face.
Saeki: "No, I just find that side of you cute."
Midou: "D-don't tease me..."
Saeki: "I mean it."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Midou] "I’m sorry about last night. Those guys were pretty pushy, and I just couldn't bring myself to refuse."
Whether he felt truly guilty about yesterday or the alcohol was simply going to his head, Midou apologized yet again.
Saeki: "You don't need to apologize anymore."
Midou: "But because of that, I ended up leaving you behind..."]
Have you not considered the possibility that I might refuse?”
“You’ll come. Because it’s you.”
This man, declaring it with a relaxed smile, must have absolutely believed that I would not refuse.
If someone as overconfident and arrogant as you were at the top, I’d feel sorry for the people working under you.”
“Then it’s decided.”
I looked back into the eyes staring straight at me with the same intensity. What kind of future could this man see ahead? And what kind of expression would the future me, standing beside him, have?
“With you, I could even take over the world.”
“Yeah.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane, Midou] “I certainly acknowledge that you are indeed talented. But even if the results are good, I’m not sure I like how forceful your approach is. It’s only okay now because I’m covering for you, but sooner or later, you’re going to trip up. Seriously…”
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "I found myself thinking how glad I am to have you by my side."
Midou: "W-What? All of a sudden..."
Saeki: "I mean exactly what I said. It’s true that I would have founded this company even if I hadn't reunited with you… But I realized I wouldn't be feeling this way if you weren't right here beside me. Take the new plan, for instance—I couldn't have gotten an agreement reached in such a short time on my own. It was thanks to your backing, Midou-san."
Midou: "...It’s unsettling. Being praised like that by you."
Saeki: "That’s a bit hurtful."
Midou: "Then you should just be honest more often."
Saeki: "I could say the exact same thing to you. Especially when we're in bed..."
Midou: "Saeki!"
Saeki: "Heh..."
Midou: "Hahaha..."]
You’ve been at the bar until this hour—that means you’ve had quite a bit to drink, doesn't it?"
Midou: "I have, but..."
Midou seemed taken aback, as if wondering why Saeki was asking something so obvious.
Saeki: "That’s exactly why."
Midou: "What do you mean?"
Saeki: "You might not realize it, but you get incredibly seductive when you're drunk. If I saw you like that, I wouldn't be able to let you go until morning."
Midou: "Y-You..."]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "Understood. I'll be waiting in the room. I'm looking forward to it. Make sure you take a shower first.”
Midou: "S-Saeki!!"
At the sound of his voice, the employees who were preparing to leave for the day all turned to look at them at once.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “Can I take advantage of your kindness today and ask you for something?”
Midou: “Hm? Yeah… go ahead. If it’s something I can do.”
Pulling his lips away from around Midou’s ear, he looked straight into his eyes.
Saeki: “Then… I want to hold you, here and now.”
Midou: “—! I-idiot, this is the office. What are you thinking!?”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “No good. I can’t stop myself anymore…”
Midou: “Honestly, you… After everything that happened, I thought you’d become more docile—at least grown a little.
Are you that captivated by my face?”
Midou: “…” *Tsundere Blushing*]
As I mentioned before, Midou changed as a person because of Saeki and doesn’t want to go back. I love his character development.
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] "So? You had a good time with your old friends, didn't you?"
Midou: "Well... actually..."
Saeki: "You didn't enjoy it?"
Midou: "Even though you’d gone out of your way to encourage me to go, it wasn't really..."
Saeki: "Did something unpleasant come up?"
Midou: "It’s not that… It wasn't that anything went particularly wrong, but..."
Mido hesitated, sounding somewhat bewildered himself. I filled his wine glass and waited silently for him to continue.
Midou: "Meeting up with them after all this time made me realize something."
Saeki: "Realize something?"
Midou: "That I used to cling to some pretty trivial values."
Saeki: "...Where is this coming from all of a sudden?"
Midou: "At first, we were just talking about our work and how things had been going lately. But as the conversation went on, what they were saying started to sound like nothing more than bragging—trapped in those same trivial values. I hadn't noticed it at all back when we used to see each other all the time. But the moment I realized it, I suddenly felt a sense of emptiness."
Saeki: "And that's why you couldn't enjoy yourself?"
Midou: "Yeah."
Moistening his lips with the wine filling his glass, Midou continued speaking. As if trying to pour out the feelings that had been pent up inside him.
Midou: "Is it because I’ve changed...?"
Saeki: "That... might be it."
Saeki: (I don't know how fully he accepts it, but I’m the one who caused the change in him—the one who made him this way...)
Saeki: "Do you regret it?"
I downed the remaining half of the wine in one go and set the glass on the table. Leaning in even closer, I peered right into Mido's face.
Midou: "No, that's not it. I have no complaints about who I am now. It's just..."
Saeki: "Just?"
Midou: "Meeting them made me realize just how much I've changed, and it left me a bit unsettled."
Midou: "I don't enjoy meeting up with old friends anymore. I don't see any benefit in talking to them. I realized that spending time with you like this is far more meaningful."
Saeki: "Midou-san..."
Midou: "I suppose I knew that all along, though..."
I gently touched the back of Midou's hand with my fingertips as he murmured those words, as if convincing himself.
Midou: "...Hm?"
I slid my fingers from the tips holding the wine glass stem up across the back of his hand. As our hands enveloped the single glass together, Katsuya gazed into Midou's eyes, then narrowed his own in satisfaction.
Saeki: "Is that why you came to my place last night?"
Midou: "...Yeah. I found myself having an overwhelming desire to be with you rather than them."
Midou: "It was a selfish thing to do..."
Saeki: "Not at all.
You’re awfully forward tonight, aren’t you?”
“Even I don’t always want to just be the one acted upon. Sometimes I want to throw you off balance myself.”
As I said it, I chuckled. And so did he.
“Then I’d better answer that spirit of yours.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “It’s rare to see you spacing out like this. Aren’t you working yourself a little too hard? Pull yourself together, President.”
In a rare, teasing tone, Midou pats me on the shoulder.
Saeki: “I told you to stop calling me that.”
I let out a slightly exaggerated sigh and gently brush away the hand resting on my shoulder.
Saeki: “I may be your superior on paper, but I consider us equals in terms of our positions.”
Midou flashes an exasperated smile, as if he’d expected that response all along.]
[[From Kichiku Megane R; ImageWHY IS HE SO MAD IM CRYING: https://postimg.cc/CBfFSyyW ; Saeki] Standing beside me, pursing my lips, Midou was shrugging his shoulders.
Saeki: “What’s so funny?”
Midou: “Nothing. I just thought the timing was incredible.”
Saeki: “Seriously…”
Though he fell silent with a sullen expression, he leaned in close to Midou’s ear and whispered in a low voice.
Saeki: “I guess we’ll have to continue this back in the room.”
Midou: “Yeah.”
Saeki: “Anyway, that really killed the mood. Should we go grab a bite to eat first?”
Midou: “That sounds good. Should we invite Fujita, too?”
Saeki: “…If we get interrupted any more than this, I won’t be able to handle it.”
Midou: “Seriously, you’re such a child in that regard.”
Saeki: “Leave me alone.”
Saeki: “But in return, you’d better be prepared for tonight—to make up for being interrupted just now.”
Midou: “Yeah.”]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane Version, Midou] “Ah.. Heh…hehe…”
Saeki: “What's so funny?”
Midou: “It’s nothing, I finally see the reason.”
So that’s why he was in such a bad mood the whole time. Even this man has some cute sides.
Saeki: “Midou-san?”
Midou: “It's nothing. Don't mind me.”]
They both talk about being one which goes to show just how connected and close they are.
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 1 Megane version, Saeki] “From now on, we will always be together. You and I will be one entity.”
[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] “Like this… to feel our bodies… melting together… we don’t need a reason…”
Midou: “Ah… ah…”
Saeki: “Don’t think about anything… just lose yourself in me… and melt as you are…”
Midou: “…You…”
Saeki: “I’m the same… I feel like I’ll be consumed by you… melt away…”]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 2 Megane version, Saeki] “I want more of you.. the more I embrace you.. the more I desire for you..”
Midou: “Me too.. I want to merge..and become one with you…”
Saeki: “Me too.. enter you ..deeper...with you..”
Saeki: “I like you.” *Kiss*
Midou: “Me too. I love you..more than anyone..”
Saeki: “I too, love you more than anyone else..Takanori..”]
[[From Kichiku Megane Drama CD 1 Megane version, Midou] “Putting that aside, you really had me worried this whole month”
Saeki: “Are you angry Midou-san?”
Midou: “Of course!”
Saeki: “Then, I shall challenge your anger with this” *Kiss*
Saeki: “Has your anger lessened?”
Midou: “...Just a little”]
It’s really funny seeing Midou talk about how good Saeki is in bed.
[[Saeki:] “...I want to see you lose control because of me.”
Midou raised an eyebrow and smiled, half affectionate, half teasing.
“You only know one way to do things?”
Biting his lip, Saeki wore a disgruntled expression. His brow furrowed, and there was even a trace of grievance in his voice.
“You clearly like it when I’m rougher.”
“Yes, I do.” Midou admitted openly, wrapping his legs tightly around Saeki’s waist once more.
“This was my choice, and I’ve never regretted it.”
A series of subtle changes flickered across Saeki’s face before settling into an expression Midou had seen on Christmas Eve several days ago, and on countless nights and days before that–the expression of someone struck by love.
You haven't used this place with anyone over the past year?"
"Of... course... not. Ngh... kh... hah... There's... no way... I'd do... something like this... with anyone... except you..."]
BELOW IS MY FAVORITE MEGAMIDO SCENE EVER Yes I had to include this. There are fanarts of this scene ILike .

[[From Kichiku Megane R, Saeki] Midou: “No matter what, you are still you. That, I can guarantee.”
Saeki: “Hearing you say that helps.”
Midou: “Now that I think about it, since we reunited, I haven’t seen you take off your glasses… Will you show me, for the first time in a while?”
Saeki: “Isn’t it fine like this?”
Midou: “…You’re the one who said you can still be yourself without them.”
So close that not only their noses but even their lips were about to touch, Midou gazed intently. His gaze was so intense it seemed to see through everything within me.
Midou: “I want to see both versions of you.”
Saeki: “Understood.”
Midou’s fingers timidly pinched the arm of his glasses.
Midou: “…May I take them off?”
Saeki: “Go ahead.”
Midou’s hand touched the frame and slowly pulled it forward. With nothing blocking my face anymore, Midou stared at me intently once again. Removing the glasses somewhat awkwardly, he leaned even closer now that they were gone.
Saeki: “Am I still a good-looking man without glasses?”
Midou: “Heh… don’t get conceited.”
As if that were a signal, their lips met without either of them clearly initiating it.]
Lastly for this section, From the author’s note in my favorite Megamido fic:
[I believe they’ll definitely get a happy ending.
No matter the circumstances, no matter their past.
As long as Midou is still Midou, alive and breathing,
As long as Megane is still Megane — truly in love with Midou —
No matter how much of a bastard he might be, he’ll still try to become a better person for Midou.
There’s nothing they can’t overcome together.
Hardship and conflict — they’ll get through it, side by side.
Midou pinched Katsuya’s cheek and, before the other could protest, asked very seriously:
“Do you want me to be happy?”
Katsuya: “…Of course I do.”
“Then that’s enough,” Midou said with a smirk that, as always, seemed to look down on the entire world —
but this time, his eyes were fixed steadily on Katsuya, unwavering.
“As long as you want it, you can make it happen.
If you feel like there’s no way…
then you’re just not trying hard enough.”
—And that’s really all it comes down to.
Midou has always been strong.
And as for Megane — I think he did really well here.
Even if he was a mess at times, he truly had Midou’s best interests at heart.
He made mistakes. And making up for those mistakes is harder than anything.
But since he tried so hard…
Midou isn’t the kind of person who’d let that effort go to waste.
They’ll definitely be happy.
The trauma Midou suffered — even in a happy-ending route — was never easy.
Everything he experienced in this fic could very well happen in a so-called HE route too.
And if they’re going to
My thing got cut off
...be truly happy, facing the past is something they have to do.
But neither of them are the kind to stay stuck forever.
They will be happy.
I believe that.
Even ten years from now,
I’ll still believe that.]

It is flawed, but it’s not bad. Megamido fans are fascinated by the characters and their relationship. They’ve created so many things to expand upon them. I made a fanfic recommendation doc in case anyone wants to read some, my favorites I have translated into English. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qN_xZEIruI6dP1UQCR-ohXmnMlE8fF7FO78tdegsWss/edit?usp=sharing
To the person that wants a normal relationship with Midou, read fanfiction!
