I agree he could have clarified the situation while running to Xinlu's car or something. But maybe it's a thing for the plot where, because Tae didn't clarify, Ilay thinks that Tae all of a sudden chose Xinlu over him. It's more angsty, and angst is my favorite, so I like it like this too haha. I think it played out well
