I’m ngl Ik this is gonna get downvoted and this is no hate towards the manhwa but it just feels so odd… they constantly bring up race and it kinda feels like a self-insert, I’m half white and half Korean UwU and I’m so fragile and pale. Idk how to explain it but when her mum talks about how she wishes her hair and her eyes were lighter, or when she says her mum doesn’t want her to tan it feels like they’re bringing in the whole stereotypical belief that lighter Eurocentric features are better. Idk bro it just rubs me the wrong way… arts cool tho
The mom definitely has internalized racism and I think they’re using it to show how she thinks being white gives you more privileges, which is obviously not the right way to think. And the mom really wants her and her daughter to fit in with all the rich people. Ig we will have to wait and see how that unpacks.
I thought that was the point? The mom is supposed to rub people the wrong way. I'm suspecting she's going to become a problem later on considering her mindset because so far only she is written to have this odd obsession with class status and race that she's projecting onto her kid which is sadly realistic and can happen in real life. But maybe I'm giving this manhwa the benefit of the doubt. I'll properly judge and critique when the whole thing is complete.
