sometimes i really can’t digest hyunsung, it’s exactly like giyoung 1.0 said he’s an hypocrite hiding behind this goody two shoes image while ignoring most of the injustices in that world. he only starts caring when things go wrong for people he likes before that he just lets everything happen like it’s normal or unavoidable
he never questions the skill system or how non combatants are treated (aka how gyioung is treated as an alchemist), he doesn’t care that they’re looked down on or treated like trash. he benefits from this system and stays silent, and that silence is basically approval. helping a few people doesn’t change the fact that he accepts the structure as it is
that flashback where he says giyoung thought the world betrayed him is so annoying because the world DID betray him. calling it just a feeling feels like hyunsung protecting his own self image instead of facing the truth that he is a part of the problem too
Hm personally I think that's what makes hyunsung a human. And not the "hero" that he actually said he hated.
He didn't ask to be a saviour. Nor does he even try to be one
