The ending they got is what they both deserve. Minhyung did NOT deserve to end up with Yijae after everything he put him through. Minhyung’s backstory is sad and his yearning for love was completely understandable, but the choices he made in the pursuit of love were just ruining things more and more. And Yijae obviously cares for Minhyung but not in a Stockholm Syndrome kinda way that oddly happens a lot in psychological BLs. I thought that was very refreshing, especially after so many stories have weirdly romanticized kidnapping and confinement. It kinda teaches you a lesson too: Minhyung did all that because he loved Yijae, but instead of asking him happy, he just ended up making Yijae resent him, drove him crazy, and landed himself in jail (death row no less). Nothing good comes from selfish choices, even if they’re made in the name of “love”. It’s not a happy or sad ending. Just fitting.
