oh what a coincidence? i had a debate about psychopaths with a friend this week. apparently 1% of the population is a psychopath (i wanted to look intelligent), Actually i find them interesting, but dangerous bc they can be manipulative and i don't like that.
Hello, I'm gonna jump in this conversation :-) I agree with Kyaa. They're very interesting. I think something that interests me the most about them is how they're usually highly intelligent, and they're able to act logically depending on situations. I think it's interesting too how they're usually perceived as monsters when they're honestly some of the most efficient beings! Some of them are obviously susceptible to crime, but a lot of them aren't. They're still kinda dangerous though. I'm not trying to glorify them btw lol.
I don't really hate anyone, but people who are psychopaths are not always bad people. Many business people, scientists and politicians display psychopathic traits. If you are referring to criminals, they are not nice people but are often at the mercy of their own brain chemistry. I would only dislike someone if the did something to hurt me or a loved one/friend. Hows that for a rational answer?
i think they get a bad rep because of society/hollywood/media constantly depicting them as serial killers, villains, monsters, and whatnot it sort of makes me sick ahah...
Im curious what was your answer siince it shocked your friend so muh??
I dont hate them and its hard to understand what kind of thoughts run through their mind maybe theyre suffering too well its hard to explain cuz i dont actually know much about it except for movies and they are mostly seen as horrible people there

the problem is what you mean by "efficient being" this is why they can be seen as monsters bc they don't take into account the others, they even use them, manipulate them due to their lack of empathie (even if non psychopath can be real as****es with others), i find this subject really interesting
Why would you hate someone who has no choice in the way they are? Its like a narcissus....they don't have a choice in they way they handle life and other people. Do I want to snuggle up with one? Nope

Yeah, I understand that a lot of them do. That's primarily one of the reasons they're very efficient. They're able to make efficient decisions due to their lack of empathy. It's not always correct, but it's just the way it is. Idk. I just think it's weird how they're seen as monsters because of it but I guess it also depends on the situation they're encountered with.

It all depends on that intelligent person's morality i guess. But then again they cannot be called psycopath if they have morals?
Psychopaths are kind of like a double edged sword. And i'm fine with knowing one (bcos i grew up with one) as long as thery don't get on my way.
that's true there is he question of morality, it's also bc of morality that they are seen as monsters, and there are different type of psycopaths they are not all bad like media make us believe. takame may i know but how did you know the person you grew up with was psycopath?

it is also not easy being around one. for people who did not grew up and did not develop some kind of immune system, you've got to be emotionally and mentally strong to be close with one.

I like the way you think:)
I don't hate them. it's just who they are, from an average human's perspectives they are considered evil and stuff but that's because they are incredibly smart and they can manipulate easily because they have a lack of feelings and that can't be helped (the feelings part)
I actually like them because some use their intelligence to solve cases average humans can't.

yes, i agree when someone is differnt he can be seen as evil, espaecially since it's easier for them to hurt others.
But when i looked into internet the majority of website were saying that a psycopath hurt others, manipulate... one more nut like you said there are some who use their intelligene like a doctor who study psycopathy and found out himself was a psycopath but a prosocial something psycopath (SOOOO INTERESTING (≧∀≦) )
I seriously agree with youXDmy answer was the same as yours!! ABC
of course people would be curious but it's not easy for the people involved. how many times i tried to burn bridges... taking things that he deems he has the right to is just the tip of the iceberg. but blood relations still won in the end, everytime. *shrugs. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

he is better now. after the biggest family rift we had with him (he's like an additional sibling with how long he stayed at our house). i had a sociopath streak probably an influence from him so well, it got ugly, lol. it took years to make up and he had his medication too (which my parents tried to be sneaky about but i still found out anyway) but he's more behaved now more than ever. seems like he's able to realize something and made some resolutions and such. at least he now knows where to draw the line.

If you're interested in psychopaths, you might wanna read The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. He researched and talks about the concept of psychopathy and actual psychopaths. I read it on an airplane ride and was totally riveted the whole time
