I’m not gonna say that people should defend ari, i too, think she needs to grow up and leave that man. But some of you people are acting like she deserves to be abused by mincheol. I think it’s very weird that some of you (NOT ALL keyword NOT ALL) will try and justify it by saying “she chose to stay with him” and then wish she’ll be abused. somehow some of you think by defending ari, we’re somehow also against haesoo. i’m telling you now, everyone giving ari grace is also a big defender of haesoo, it’s that fucking carrot head that everyone agrees needs to disappear. You hated it when haesoo was being mistreated, so why are you suddenly okay with seeing another woman be put in her position? I also don’t want to see people say “she knew what she was doing when she messed with a married man” when she was under the impression he was single, and then after encountering haesoo, a divorced man.
She has no knowledge of haesoo and minshit’s history, we just think ari should automatically believe haesoo because she’s objectively the good person and protagonist and also telling the truth. but it doesn’t work like that… should ari have been more diligent? yes definitely, she’s being a bit dumb right now, but that does not warrant her being mistreated and abused in a toxic relationship. if we’re following the korean age system, she’s actually 24 in western society, not that it matters much anyway. i really want to see people stop bringing up her age because no matter what, no woman deserves to be mistreated.
Maybe in another universe, ari stops to talk to haesoo and ask her for the truth, and then also believes what haesoo is saying. then they get along and cut out that carrot headed bitch out their lives forever. They’d have an older sister and younger sister dynamic. And then ari dates someone actually appropriate for her age, who doesn’t lead her on or use her a blowup sex doll. Someone else also said this but i forget who, i think yall also forget that the plot conveniently needed mincheol to stay at someone else’s place after the big blow out fight with haesoo, so they HAD to make ari forgive him…. and yeah this is naive as hell for ari, but she thinks mincheol won’t see his ex-wife anymore cause he’ll live with her full time.
tldr i think we should all stream “mean girl” by katseye

revisiting this and it’s just like… this shit has no depth at all and hyou genuinely has the shittiest excuse to rape and abuse his little brother for fuck all reason dad abused mom = oh okay i will abuse my little brother. mom stayed with dad through the abuse = okay i will stay and be abused by my older brother.
i know this sounds bad but if you’re gonna do incest, do it interestingly at least. it just feels like cheap shock value shit. hyou fucks his brother but let’s also add abuse, humiliation, and rape too… you know what did incest and tragedy interestingly? “an uncomfortable truth” by EErun. it’s clear the mangaka had no interest in making meaningful commentary on the cycle of abuse and the taboo of incest because hyou does a 180° personality change the SECOND setsu voiced (a very valid) concern about not having enough money, a safe space, and overworking hyou. before this point, he was eager to protect and hear out setsu, he even fought with his inner self and for what for them both to decide they should start raping setsu? he didn’t even contemplate it that hard clearly he knew right from wrong at the beginning… did hitting setsu really feel THAT good that he just HAD to dye his hair and become a horrible person, effectively becoming his father, the person he hated most? does he realize he could have thought about for more than 2 seconds before fucking over setsu’s life forever until he or them both get intensive therapy? he doesn’t confront anything that makes him uncomfortable, like slamming down their family portrait, and this would’ve been more interesting if he showed more remorse for treating setsu the way he does, but still being unable to control himself. instead it just seems like he wants to rape and beat setsu. and he does this on purpose! so that he scares setsu into never going back to their father! boy your father wasn’t out here raping you both on top of the verbal humiliation and beatings! you’re out here doing all three to setsu!! YOURE WORSE THAN YOUR OWN ABUSER!!!????
9 times out of 10, abusive people have a fragility somewhere, that being their mental state, ego, pride, etc. the story treats hyou as someone rather sane and that setsu is the one actually paying for his crimes of daring to voice his opinions that one time. while it’s realistic that setsu feels inadequate and like a failure, it doesn’t matter in the end because the author wants them to be together and just be the uke to his seme. bruh like actual bruh moment
Okay so you clearly didn’t understand the story , like, at all.
HYOU IS SUPPOSED TO BE A HORRIBLE PERSON!!! You’re not suppose to like him, he’s clearly attempting to be a reflection of his father and treating his brother like his father treated their mother. Also the story on here is unfinished so ofc you’re not gonna fully understand it!!
I didn’t think i’d have to state it so blatantly, but Hyou and Setsu are clearly posing as two vastly different products of abuse. It’s common for abuse victims to end up being abusers, or, to end up being abused again.
Also, spoiler alert, Hyou ends up dying and so does his father. The ending is sad yet relieving in a way. I wont say anymore since i hope you can re-read it and try to look at it a different way, while also taking a look at the extras that tell a lot abt the characters.
it’s a day later and this comment actually still ticking me tf as to how ignorant someone can be towards how complex the results of abuse can be. just disgusting omg,,,, please grow up and educate ur self
The original commenter presents a valid argument that hyou is not a fleshed out character (at least in what's translated so far). Telling someone to grow up and educate themself regarding THIS story is crazy work
I’m not talking educating themselves regarding the story, I honestly couldn’t care less abt that. I was referring to mental + physical abuse, and specifically the vast effects on victims from it. Majority of ops argument is narrow minded asf when considering the abuse elements being portrayed in the story.
Also them acting like its suppose to be this a extremely straight forward story, like no bro they aren’t gonna just one day be like “oh yeah lemme go get a therapist for this and admit to” . anyways im done bye
