I don’t want to argue about Guwon. Let’s focus on the town’s rules. If the collective agreed on a rule and he knew that rule AND punishment, then as a responsible father the dude should have reported his kid as sick and offered to go out and find medicine himself. The town or teach could have taken care of his son and as an able-bodied father, he should have done ANYTHING he could.

If everyone got away with stealing in times of emergencies, then what’s stopping people from stealing everything altogether. If the Hounds are risking their lives outside and the town has agreed they deserve medicine for that, then the father has every right to GO OUT WITH THE HOUNDS, take the risk, and bring it to his son. I’m 100% sure Guwon would have given his permission if the father just asked.

The father took the easy way out hoping for pity and mercy instead of accountability and responsibility.
