I may be wrong but I thought you can be bisexual even if you are not equally attracted to both genders. It doesn't have to be 50/50. But in general, I feel that sexuality fluctuates, you don't have to label it and be 100% sure all the time. For the relationship, do you only feel claustrophobic in relationship with someone of the same gender? In th......   2 reply

Mc with no self-respect meets toxic partner and get abused. Then, we learn that toxic partner is this way because they are traumatized. They fall in love bc mc is the only one who can understand and save them.   reply

I don't think it's wrong to have rape in a story. What is wrong is authors using rape to make the victim "realize their feelings" for the abuser or describing non-con as something normal in a relationship. In short, people romanticizing rape are problematic. Rape has terrible consequences so it can be interesting to see a character trying to overco......   reply

Minmi's question ( All 5 )

about question
So I'm trying something here. Since people are sharing their opinions I thought it could be interesting to share an opinion you used to have. Like you changed your mind because you realized your opinion is harmful, inaccurate, biased or just you were convinced by the opposite opinion etc.
I'm feel like I'm not very clear so I'll give an example.

I used to think that depression was like being in a bad mood. Like you could work on it by cheering yourself up and making efforts to view things positively. I thought it was very easy not to feel depressed anymore and I couldn't understand why people don't do what seemed to me as a small effort to feel better. Then, I talked to my friends, looked up on the Internet and got that I was wrong and depression is something more complex that just being in a bad mood.

PS: No bashing obviously. The goal of my question is to show that opinions change and sometimes opinions are biased because we don't know enough for example or we were educated in a certain way. This is not a court or a confessional where you have to confess crimes or anything.

I saw a question on abortion so I just wanted to hear your opinions on euthanasia too. For people who might not be familiar with it, euthanasia is "the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma".
And let's respect everyone's opinion :)

Long version:

Before getting started, I just want to say that I’m genuinely interested in answers. I don’t want to be offensive or disrespectful. I know I’m dealing with sensitive issues I’m sorry in advance if I offend anyone. Please, correct me if I said things wrong. I know very well this is Mangago but I enjoy serious questions. If you’re only here to discuss about mangas, sorry to bother you.

I used to think that it’s always a good thing if more people fight for a cause like equality of rights for example. Even more if these people come from another group and are not directly concerned because they may have a different perspective. They could also make things change in their own community. To me, it can convey the idea that it’s not only about a group against another. But it is obvious that the people concerned will always have more legitimacy.

However recently, I read something about POC being capable of fighting their own battles and white people tending to behave like knights in shinning armors. It seems like a relevant issue so I started to doubt hence my questions :)

1/ Do you agree with that statement? What are the « problematic » behaviors? I am not judging anyone, even with good intentions, people can makes mistakes.

2/ To what extend can it be also applied to other groups?
Can you be a feminist activist if you're a man?
Can you speak about the issues of the LGBTQA+ community if you’re not part of it?
Etc.

3/ Then, what can you do when you're not part of the group?
How can you show support irl and on social medias?

Thank you for taking time to read. English is not my native language please ask me if I’m not clear enough.

Yes it’s another controversial subject but I don’t think this question has been asked before. No, I am not a troll I am genuinely asking for your opinion.
Disclaimer: I am not trying to justify rape or murder. I am just comparing people reaction on these matters.

A character who rapes another is almost always raising controversies and becomes hated by a part of the comment section talking about morals and all. But when it comes to murder, it seems like people are more tolerant. I don’t really get why. Rationally speaking, murder is worse than rape since the consequences of murder on a victim are pretty definitive.

Here are some exemple of murderers: Yellow dragon, the white haired guy in Psycho (Young Dream), Cain from Dear door probably killed people. Same goes for all the mafia guys in Cover up, A thousand cranes and Legs which cannot walk.

I made some hypothesis to explain this:
1/ Characters being killed are often unknown or bad characters whereas characters being raped are most of the time the ukes. So the seriousness of the act depends on the importance of the victim in the story. If that a reason for you could you explain why?

2/ Murder can be justified by various things: context (mafia, revenge…), morals of the victim, background of the abuser, mental issues, self-defense… Self-defense doesn’t really applies for rape but why are the other things used to justify murder but not rape? I mean Jihyun, Chang, Sangwoo have mental issues but it’s not an excuse for many people.

3/ Among people who can’t stand rape, there are some people who had been sexually harassed themselves so they are more likely to react differently to rapists because they trigger their personal traumatic experience.

4/ We are more used to see murder in fiction than rape. Being used to something even if it's criminal makes us more tolerant about it?

Answering the question could you please precise if you are ok with rape or/and murder in fiction and if the death penalty still applies in your country (I think it could be an indicator of how you conceive morals like is it okay to kill someone when they did something awful)

PS: Damn I never expected to do a philosophical analysis about morals from yaoi.
