In the anime, it is downplayed, but in the og unrevised manga Hisrose was planned to fully fall for the teacher and for their to be tension with the teacher (the author even drew "what if" art of hirose and the teacher *barf* ) but this was abandoned due to the backlash of p*do themes ruining a supposedly coming of age manga
