What a nasty cliffhanger. I understand they were immature when stuff happened in middle school. But really, bro has the nerve to approach yeon woo after the hurtful stuff he said to him before transferring
That's right. None of them could cope with the situation nor find an effective solution. What he did was wrong however he can't be blame for it. Under extreme phychological pressure and pain he blamed yeonwoon because he felt betrayed. However none of them are to be blamed. They were and still are kids. Good kids.
Of course, I'm not blaming him for what he did BACK THEN. But despite all that happened, he had the nerve to approach yeonwoo after l those years. What do these two have between them now? Trauma! Ofc that guy will apologize to yeonwoo now, and seeing how kind yeonwoo is, eventually he will forgive him and resolve the issue. But it's not to be resolved when their friendship breakup left yeonwoo is a more vulnerable state, not because of the incident itself, rather how it happened
I don't see the harm in clearing things up between them, even though so much time has passed and the situation has been horrible.
Perhaps it's a personal perspective. I've been through many difficult situations in my life and have learned to forgive and apologize , even years afterward. Since I live in a slum/favella and I am a school teacher, I've seen many situations like this, and I've learned that it's better to fix things no matter how many years have passed.
An example of phicologist is what happened after WWII. Some soldiers apologized to their victims, and for many, forgiveness was impossible; for others, forgiveness was a consolation.
Fυck. This is so... I don't remember the last time i cried for a character. I'm mostly desensitized, so no matter how much I like a character, I can't feel anything, any solid emotion or empathize with their past even if I relate. I recognize it, I might even think, yeah, that’s familiar, but it stops there. No real feeling. Just... observation. But I actually shed tears reading this chapter. While everyone seems to be commenting how cute and what not this chapter is, but I feel like shit imagining myself in Haesoo's place. All I feel is was the ache. The substance abuse, anxious dread to meet her sister who supposedly dislikes her now or at least is not fond of her. Also when haesol and yeonwoo were picking out headbands, the author intentionally put a distance between them and haesoo in the frame. It was a split and transient moment, but weight is heavy. The feeling of being deserted, detached from others, inability to relate and cojoin. The kind of invisible partition that reminds you of being a misfit. This and that also when haesoo passed out on the bench speaking of amusement park... There's that when he was gleaming like a baby on the bumper car. I just feel so... heavy, simultaneously hollow but painful. I can't recall the last time I cried for a character, or felt this desperate urge to pacify them...
The siblings are one of the most pitiful characters i have ever read about. Haesol made me cry from just how absolutely hollow she was before yeonwoo, she lived simply to live, it was so saddening.. and haesoo.. I don't know why, but seeing him smile like that just hurts more than it comforts me, it's one of the few times he was actually genuinely seeming having fun. Literally everyone but yeonwoo is wary of him and his only light (his sister) rejected him so harshly that he cried in the snow for possibly hours?? It's just so tragic man.. maybe it's because he didn't really have friends like haesol, ones that grounded her, kept her somewhat sane, childhood friends, middle school friends, yeonwoo now too.. haesoo didn't have that, he just had bad influences who made his life worse
My goodness... the author is genius at conveying how abuse manifests in victims in later life. I TOTALLY get what haesoo meant when he said he felt detached from the abuse he went through... I'm shook. Never saw it being conveyed that way somewhere else before, didn't even know it happened with others

Oh god was this a reference to LCL or instrumentality from neon genesis evangelion?
