There were a lot of things this one did well. The power struggle between the crown and the church was very interesting and i liked that Mc was not invulnerable to their manipulations and we got to see how it affected her. I also liked the moral consistency throughout. As sad as it is to acknowledge, a lot of manhwas are so classist. This Mc was very empathetic and the comic never portrayed the treatment of the lower class as a good thing, even when her family were the perpetrators. And Mc’s different mindset was never used to put her above other women, which also happens frequently in other manhwas. It was nice to see an Mc that was just a kind but not perfect.
That being said, there were a lot of things I didn’t like. There is not a single good Ml candidate in this manhwa. Other than Aiden and the prince, every single man has hurt Mc in some way. Realistically, it’s looking like Ed is gonna be our Ml, but I cannot see her being happy with him. He’s done too much and too little at the same time. He’s traumatized her and treats her coldly other than a fleeting touch every now and then. He’s so plain and they have no chemistry. Also he’s her adopted brother. She entered his family when she was 11. It’s just odd.

I personally think the only reason Daniel was so obsessive and cruel was so that the authors could be like “see? It could be worse. He could be her brother AND a manipulative narcissist.” Especially since we’ve only seen like 5 interactions between the two of them since their weird relationship started, it just feels like Daniel was added for that sole reason. There are a lot of underdeveloped plot points that i feel like they just added for no reason. So many characters that we hardly see because they were shoe horned in with little to no regard for how they’d serve the plot. It’s so sad because the story had so much potential.
Also there are barely any women and most of them are sidelined after a while. Past a certain point this comic does not pass the bechdel test :(
