I think... The reason why the art quality from the beginning is better than the current one...
Is because IN THE BEGINNING they were CUTE, WHOLESOME & FLUFFY that's why the artist draw it with LOVE
But ever since it got DARKER!!! aka the last season
The artist was like "Naahh, why should i draw r*ape and abuse so passionately? It's not cute"
HENCE! the art quality downgrade

I came back to reread the story since it is my most favorite BL
But i understand how many people dislike ML
When i first read this story, I'm also annoyed by his approach towards MC and how he blackmail him to get what he wants
Poor MC have to endure the unfairness of the world he lives in
However, i think we (us that have read this story till the end) can all agree that ML doesn't understand what Love truly means (or what emotions are) and in his backstory he doesn't show spoiled behavior like kids in general do and somehow very smart.
At this point, i think the author focus on building up ML emotion by being with MC. And that's how he get to have more emotions.
That's my opinion, there's actually more i wanted to talk about but i guess that's it for now
