this one may have just not been my cup of tea, so if you disagree that’s fine, but this one by goodmen is terrible. I’ve read the thread never burned (also by goodmen) and it’s honestly beautiful. So reading this I can hardly believe it’s by the same dude. Im the kind of person to read something i know is bad so i don’t just hate it blindly, but I’m only eighteen chapters in and I can already see where this is going: kay/kieth is SOMEHOW (i say this because i hate dulla) gonna fall in love with dulla and he’s SOMEHOW (i say this because i can hardly fathom that guy is capable of love) gonna fall in love with him too. you may say that it’s a “toxic relationship” but it lowkey pisses me off when people apply that to these relationships where one is RAPED. it’s the same shit with codename anastasia it’s not “dark romance” it’s fucking criminal </3 and then people call me crazy for saying rape is unforgivable… it ALSO annoys me when these stories introduce a sort of “love rival” (in this case it’s henry) that’s clearly way better for the mc. i haven’t read the whole story so i don’t know if he does anything, but eighteen chapters in and he’s been so good to him :( but also it may be stupid to rant this much about a bl of all things so… take this as you will
Henry is not the best choice which I am happy about haha. Mc’s reason for falling seems to be because he admired power of della due to his upbringing where power was important for survival, on the other hand Della’s love seems unreasonable to me. I guess one could say della loved Mc because Mc is the only person who bested him and defeated him and someone who can rival him in a way. They both seem to thrive in danger and love to live on edge.
I read author’s other work which double trap which I loved way more than this. Reading the author’s note I can understand why this story turned out this way. It was originally planned as 6 chapter less plot and more fcking type of manhwa that got extended

nothing could’ve prepared me for the way this story went (´~`) … it feels like the author really doesn’t have a handle on their own characters. especially juheon, i struggle to even understand who he is anymore. dohu is at least trying to keep a consistent character, where we get in depth looks into his thoughts and feelings. but juheon… i feel like we get less of what he’s thinking and feeling and more of just his backstory. i deadass feel like dohu, what the fuck is that guy thinking?? (/TДT)/
also, this angst/conflict feels lowkey forced. when i first started reading and it was hinting at a potential conflict (because dohu was keeping that he used juheon as inspiration a secret) i genuinely thought they were purposely setting that up so they could have a “twist” of sorts when juheon is actually okay with it (doesn’t get mad) because of the way dohu helped him develop into this new person. which is probably why the turnout was even more disappointing, but it still doesn’t make sense. they emphasize how the two understand and know eachother so well, and juheon literally says he understands dohu’s way of thinking and that he didn’t mean any harm in what he did. but it still caused their falling out? why? so the story could have this angst section in it? it’s just hilarious that the story was making “meta” jokes dogging on bl stereotypes in the beginning, with dohu being a bl author and all, and then ending up just like every other stereotypical bl out there… i just miss season one
