I’m sure nobody would have a problem with the rape if the story didn’t romanticize it. For example, a light novel called “Goblin Slayer” contains rape. However, the author actually depicts it as wrong and shows the long-lasting effects that rape can have (a girl commits suicide because she became pregnant from being raped). Love Is An Illusion, on the other hand, completely disregards the rape and, instead of making it out to be harmful and traumatizing, it makes it seem as if it’s hot or cute.

Hyesung and Dojin’s whole relationship is stemmed from rape, but that fact is hardly addressed and it’s made to seem like a normal thing. That is where the problem lies, and that is what can become harmful for actual rape/abuse victims. Romanticizing rape is gross and it normalizes it, in a sense. Fiction can affect reality, even if just a little bit, which is why it’s important to pay attention to what you’re reading.

I respect your opinion and discomfort whole heartedly. But are you really using Goblin Slayer as an example on how rape should be handled? Because the rape felt like some kinda hentai rather than actually being there for story purposes. Just after the rape scene we suddenly get a light hearted ecchi/fanservice scene. The rape felt like it was just there for the sake of it without serving any other purpose. In every episode there is a scene girls getting raped by goblins. I don't see how every episode needs to have a rape scene. Even many ecchi fans admitted how poorly the rape was handled.

Moreover there are many couples out there that roleplay rape during sex. There are many men and women out there that fantasize about rape. But does that mean they want to be raped or rape someone in any way? Of course not. A sane adult might have such fantasy but they will never harm someone in real life. That is the very difference between fiction and reality and thus you see so many people using that argument. Similarly if someone plays violent video games it doesn't necessarily mean they will go out of their way to kill people.
