That ending is so idealistic, from the acceptance of a deceptive act, though it was done from a sort of good intention stand point to the love they both seem to have for one another. I can not shake the thought that in the real world it would and could have gone way worse for Chika due to what he did being wrong at the end of the day. That is why you have to love manga; it presents a scenario that could go terribly for one or both parties from a mental or physical standpoint and has it become something that has a positive ending. Sorry not trying to be a damper or ruin anyone's enjoyment, I enjoyed the happy resolution, just had this thought after reading and seeing news stories of such things going badly.
So so so much this. I have known people who have been beaten near death when their partners found out that they weren't the gender they presented as. I also have friends who have been on the other side ie tricked into believing they were dating/doing it with their preferred gender. It'd be nice if the ideal in this manga could apply to everyone IRL.
No I can't do this anymore. Don't do this sort of thing man, this is painful to see. This author is good but they have to much of sadistic edge, it's like George R.R.Martin. I am not about seeing characters I grow to love, dying in horrific and heartbreaking ways. As much as I love this manga, can't do it anymore. This chapter broke me; I stand by what I said about the manga earlier, it is excellent and it is amazing but i'm done after that depressing ending for the latest chapter.
The point I am going for is not that these are deathmatches but the gut punch I get from watching characters I have GROWN to care about die. Most mangas do not go this in depth with characters and gives you twists for them. The author makes you care about them and then kills them off. Most manga do not have the fighter's families, friends, cohorts and peers in the stands to watch them die. I knew from the get go it would be death matches, as I stated I was not prepared for the emotional impact they would have.
Going to just repost my response to the other person to you. Raiden's mother just watched her son get decapitated in a fight for humanities survival. Going from an empathetic standpoint, how can I not feel soul crushingly depressed about it, which is even crazier because I liked them both, Shiva and Raiden. I am saying the author is effective in their approach but it has grown too be to depressing. That is all.

I have no problem saying I was wrong after the cliffhanger the previous chapter left us on.
