it’s not odd at all. yes, physically she was 18 (mind you, 18 not even considered being a grown woman that’s literally a teen who’s barely even a damn adult lol) but she literally is mentally a child. the count adopted her when she was seven & from there she never got any proper education or even communicated with children her age. she experienced neglect & abuse. she was never 18 mentally which makes sense on how when time reversed she still acted like a kid. also, this is ignorant to say cause there are actual children & adults who experienced similar abuse like fl. i can’t think of their name now, but in my psych class i learned about how a mother fully neglected her child & never gave them the basic needs they needed so when they grew older they mentally were a child even though they were an adult. so, minus the time reversing, things like this can & have happened. this is one of the cases where it’s completely understandable that fl is with a ml who’s “younger” than her which in actuality he’s not & time just reversed.

I understand people going through abuse and stunting mental growth but still doesn’t excuse the fact that she’s falling in love with an actual kid. In this circumstance it’s normal because she didn’t grow up right because of abuse but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that she’s falling in love with an actual kid. Would you still use this point if the girl was an old man that has been abuse till he reached the age of 30 and having the mental capacity of a child then falling in love with a young 9year old girl? What happens when the man gets rejected because of how uncomfortable the child would be about someone physically older than her falling in love with her ?… because they have the mentality of a child and the body of a grown man we don’t know their reaction when their feelings are not reciprocated. When it comes to the life of actual children it’s not the time to bring in dark/ abnormal psychology.

as someone who’s on their way to get their PhD my head hurts reading this comment. first of all, not to be rude but i don’t think you understand how our brains work when it comes to being a kid especially at her age. she was a child and imprisoned in a shed with ZERO human contact other than her adopted father & sister & that will instantly stunt any child’s growth right then & there. they stop growing mentally. it is crucial for kids her age to meet other people & to learn basic skills because if not, they’ll never be able to be on the same mental capacity as people their age. now, if she was older & 30 & a guy & was put in the same situation, yes i would still use my point cause by that time her mental capacity would be that of a child. there’s a certain time limit for children to learn basic skills before it gets too late. this is why child neglect is a serious issue because there is a real case (i forgot her name) of a woman when she was a child of being neglected & she is physically an adult but her mind is that of a child because her parents neglected to give her the attention & basic needs to grow. she did get help & was making progress but the years of neglect left such a lasting impact that she couldn’t grow mentally & is basically a child still even though physically she is an adult. now, putting this with our female lead that means that she is a kid. it don’t matter how old she died, she is still mentally a child. the outer appearance rarely matters when they cannot communicate mentally & emotionally with others in their own age bracket. it’s why that when she died & time reversed she still behaved & even had such childlike thoughts. she never got the chance to grow up until she had a second chance at life. not every kid/adult who grew up neglected & are suffering from it has the luxury she does. i get why you’re so off by it but it goes to show that a lot of people who read these type of plots don’t understand the psychological damage that these characters go through.

. I’ll say it again just because someone is mentally unstable because of abuse does not necessarily mean it’s acceptable for them to fall in love with a child. Cognitive functioning is not the only thing we need to be looking at here, there’s a physical and biological difference you are neglecting that makes your point surface level. You’re only looking at one aspect of things which is that they were abused thus stunting their growth but I’m telling you it’s not the only thing at play here. Also you don’t seem to understand paradox - it’s normal for a person who experienced abuse to fall in love with a child but that doesn’t mean it’s an “okay ” thing. Abuse is a non normative event that plays a huge role on a persons emotional and mental development . People who experience abuse should not be looking for solace or peace in a relationship yet alone a relationship with a KID ( even if they’re mentally a kid ). They should go to therapy and rehabilitate themselves first and foremost then find someone who’s GROWN and willing to help them grow from there. Mind you a kid cannot consent to all this because that girl is still 18 at the end of the day. Also this whole mentally a kid thing doesn’t make sense bechause what phase of cognitive/ affectionate and social phase are you referring to ? Maybe determine that before trying to make arguments that make no sense. The development of a kid has many levels - physical , affectionate/ social and cognitive. Someone physically and biologically 18 but mentally 9 being in a relationship with someone physically, biologically and mentally 9 is not something you should be defending here and the fact that abuse is in it makes it even worse. Go read your psychology notes first and analyze the emotional , mental and cognitive state of the character first.

Also the ml is a kid and children cannot handle people who have been abused. This story is highly glamourizing the situation. A relationship like this can be highly abusive on both sides and shouldn’t be defended in real life.
