The pacing for this is all over the place and the main character sucks. Outside of the initial trauma, everything else in the plot stems from his refusal to properly communicate with Ryuji. Mind you, Ryuji also isn’t great because he kissed the main character without his consent the first time, then asked for consent later like it wasn’t a problem. Pacing sucks, the transition into the kiss scene from chapter one felt super rushed. Overall mediocre plot and characters and it’s only redeeming quality is the art.

Seriously, part of what makes this story so wonderful was how down to earth and sweet it was. The characters were likable and relatable, the vibe was good, the relationship was sweet, and the ending was well done. So why come back after all this time just to poison the story with a bunch of angst? Fans of angst aren’t going to read through four seasons of a sweet romance to get to what they want to see, and fans of the sweet story that was originally told won’t want to see this wholesome relationship marred by shitty angst. Who was this even written for? I’ll just enjoy a re-read of the first four seasons and not acknowledge the existence of season five because I don’t want to see Haebom and Taesung needlessly suffer miscommunication, emotional turmoil, threats, and potential sexual assault trauma. Worst thing I could see after this series was ended so well.
