Celebrity worship is deeply ingrained in much of Asian entertainment culture, and as it's said patriarchy is frequently upheld by mostly women. That's one reason powerful men especially celebrities can get away with so much. It often doesn't seem to matter whether they're a rapist or a pedophile.
