This story is nothing new and very YIKES.
I get that Japan sometimes has a skewed look on foreigners and different countries but you would assume that for a story they would do research. I don't think Japanese people know how using stereotypes, making the mc seme white, ofc straight hair and stuff like this is very badly looked upon in the West and also hurtful to the said culture.
It was also published 2013 and I think that it wasn't as much talked about then as now either in the West so I assume that it was even less talked about in Japan.
BUT as I said YOU WOULD ASSUME they do research even for the most unkown of topics but noo
