He was attracted and entranced by the way xinlu looked, attracted enough to consider it his first LOVE and something that makes him "feel hot and his heart beat fast". I don't know about you, but I've never felt that way about a child much younger than myself, and I'd probably report someone to the police if they were a fully grown adult saying their first love is a child. The author is a yuri apologist and that's why they paint yuri as a "morally correct" person and have him not go after xinlu himself, but that doesn't change the fact yuri was attracted to xinlu as a child.
