Btw season 3 already has 28 chapters and still no proper communication
I second this. The nature of the situation is too delicate for "proper communication." What does "proper communication" even mean in this scenario? That Juheon tells everything about his fucked up family to Dohu? Sure, then what is Dohu realistically supposed to do? Be there for moral support? From Juheon's perspective, Dohu knowing is more likely to cause more chaos and derailing his plans than Dohu not knowing. (Obviously, as readers, we see the flaws in this logic, but it's Juheon's logic.)
Yes, they could theoretically work together, but it's in each individual's best interests to handle things separately. Juheon doesn't want Dohu involved by any means with his familial drama, which is fair since his family is crazy. By Dohu knowing more about the situation, it limits Juheon's options. It is strategic from Juheon's perspective. He knows that Dohu is the type to jump in and just do anything he see fits even if Dohu is smart about it, but Juheon want to risk everything he's worked hard for and built up to this point to see what Dohu's wild card can do for him. Juheon doesn't actually know what Dohu could offer him to help alleviate his problems. That is Juheon's shortcoming.
He believe he needs to do everything all alone while Dohu likely just wants to help. Perhaps, Juheon underestimates Dohu's obedient and pragmatic side if everything about Juheon's past comes to light. If anything, the author is building up to the point where Juheon realizes that being without Dohu is more dangerous than being with him. And that's when they will probably take a more collaborative approach to resolving Juheon's unwanted ties with his family.
It's crazy that a lot of readers in this forum dislike this dynamic and the build up in favor of sex scenes and affection when the situation doesn't call for it. I wouldn't feel satisfied if the author just made them make up because I want to understand each character's motivations and hubris. The payoff is when they make up after all of the conflict, plot building, and character development. It also wouldn't be logical for the characters to just kiss and make up when there's so many unresolved bits and pieces to the larger equation.
i wish i could give your reply a 100 likes
another example of communication not working for them i feel was the ending chapters of season 2 after juheon found out. iirc they were still trying to communicate with each other, juheon initiating the topic mostly but dohu didn't understand what he meant back then, so they weren't on the same page and juheon had to leave since everything caught up with him ༎‿༎
