Finished the novel and honestly Grayson got redeemed in my eyes lol
he does have some character development but more than anything else I think he gives off vibes of a strong neuro divergent person who never really got the help he needed and I think it’s good that by the end he got someone who accepted that part of him and could help him/point him out gently when he messed up without using his handicap (because truly, the whole pheromon thingy is what it is) as an excuse for his wrong doings.
It’s also realistic how some people still don’t like him despite knowing his circumstances and some people try to change their view of him but can still feel awkward because of his actions/not quite understand him all the time. I feel that’s really close to how people with strong handicaps are treated irl by neuro typical people.
Yo yo yo, I understand that you wanna compare being different with being misunderstood.. but saying he's neurodivergent just for atypical way of thinking is nonsense, yk.. if he did have, let's say, Asperger's combined with Antisocial Personality Disorder (psychopath), it wouldn't explain his obsession with finding the one.. he's more likely a neurotypical that has been too spoiled and never learned the basics of human real connections, or warmth, being an Extreme Alpha and how in that universe they are perceived, and their lifestyles, it makes much more sense.. as an AuDHDer, I've seen no neurodivergent symptoms displayed by Grayson Miller whatsoever.. I've been to pretty dark places but, the things he did, it takes a special kind of crazy..

Tho, tbh, it could be because of the not so good translation but to me who worked and grew up with someone who was born with a really strong mental disability, it definitely reminded me, in some way, of how our childhood was. Like, that person is the gentlest soul I’ve ever known and because of the tremendous work his parents did, he’s now able to live a sorta normal life, be he also unintentionally almost killed me twice growing up.
Neurodivergence and mental disabilities are as various as people on this earth and some also more of a pain for life than others. And I say that as someone who also suffer from ADHD.
Tho to be fair, I absolutely don’t think Grayson was intentionally written that way by the author (but who knows), which explain the inconsistencies, but some parts definitely made me think that + considering the whole « pheromones can melt your brain » etc I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to see in it some sort of allegory
Additionally, you can be neurodivergent AND a spoiled brat (or even a bad person). One is not incompatible with the other.
Personally I also find a world where people with acknowledged handicaps are the ones in charge and society had to adapt around that because of it more interesting so I think I’ll just keep seeing it like that lol

So apparently it end up with the three of them together and if it is how it is I guess I’ll just have to accept it but man I reeeeeally hate nain and Amon together. While it make sense because of who Amon is, i wish Nain could be free from him because their relationship was forced and non consensual from the start. Nain never had a choice in it and that’s just sad. Even if Amon improve a bit later on, I don’t think it will change my feelings much on that matter, I really hate his character and every time he appears. I’m all for trouple but not this time.
