Not an excuse especially as someone who had severe mental health issues, and witnessed her mom go through worst, yes people react differently to traumas and mental disorders, but that does not change the fact that she choose to leave her son, I mean fuck the dad if you feel like someone is not for you then you have every right to leave, but it's not your child's fault, even if you think it's the best for them, because kids are not clueless they know what they want and he wants his mom, and the line between mental health and selfishness was crossed, when she didn't even remotely try to seek her, even from her closest friend who she knew would never turn her back on her, because ones you choose to have a child there's no (only me), kids shouldn't pay for parents mistakes and problems, my own mom was at Rock bottom and she reached to her family and strangers who mostly raised me for 5 years until my mom recovered and got back on her feet, and even if you excuse all this and the fact that she didn't even try to reach out to him until he found her, it doesn't make her less guilty one bit.
