Not free, but just putting out there that there's this really good YA book that's like that. It's called "Simon vs the Homosapien's Agenda" and its basically what you described. They know that the other goes to the same school and that they're both gay, but they don't know each other's identity, and they communicate daily through email. It's really good, if you ever find yourself with too much money to spend I would recommend getting it.

*The Pet Shop by TheoryKierei - first chapter's brought me to tears at least. good story too.
*Changing Will by SkeneKidz - sequel of Friend Zoned, which is recommended to read to fully understand the context (it's good but the sequel is better). i fell in love with the main character.
*Best Friends 4Never by sanmariano - not really that angsty. but there is depth to the story, and quite a loooooot of sex (with different characters too, open relationship y'all).

So the seme is avoided by whole school because he's scary or something like that. He lives alone in a 2-person room (guess the school has a dorm). Then one day the uke transferred and has to live in the same room as the seme. - so the uke and seme kinda living together. The first chapter tells when the seme just came back from traveling. He's photographer, if i'm not mistaken. The seme keeps saying that he likes the uke (if i'm correct), but the uke just ignores them even though he's also feeling the same (i think he's not aware of it at that time). One day, the seme got into accident and died, leaving the uke mourning. I don't really remember after that but seems like uke got the second chance to turn back time but as the result, they didn't meet. At the end, they met again near a river. I think the seme was taking photos. The plot is similar with kimi no yume o mite iru and it's one of my favorites. It'd mean a lot if you let me know! (=・ω・=)
