i actually was not okay with this even after learning about his reason, like man you re-did that to him TWICE, and this is absolutely not including torturing him personally! cmon its too much. coulda gone with one, and the whole "remember" kinda plot is annoying, like pls just tell him what he did wrong then beat some sense into him for revenge or wtv.
i can outlook all of that, but the fact that they got together after is insane, and continued this degrading as$ rls is so shitty, especially since the mc was just forced into all of this, and i just felt like the after was just Stockholm syndrome and i HATE this plot.

I read the novel a long time ago so I dont actually remember the details between matthias and riette but layla is really hurt, like it seemed like she's fine but she's literally physically hurt and I think it was her back that got hurt the most. And matthias tends to her injuries in his annex. She gets scared that he'll do sth but he really does just tends to her injuries(sorry for not being able to give you the details TT)
