Me, I didn't feel disgusted at all <3 I only got addicted in reading and I think the first manga and anime Yaoi that I've seen is Junjou Romantica, I promise to myself that I will stop after I've graduated but it seems I can't . teehee :D
When my friend first fantasized about a yaoi about deidara and sasori from naruto, I felt extremely awkward cuz I had never heard of yaoi, gays, lesbians, or bi's before so it appeared as though it would be abnormal and disgusting, but out of curiosity I got on a yaoi website and watched a couple of yaois and I was officially HOOKED. Not only was it hot, it was so touching cuz its a whole new level of love that most straight couples could never experience. That was the beginning of a beautiful interest for me. Now...YAOI IS MY LIFE!!! XD
Yah! I was like that too!.. I don't know what is Yaoi or the other genres of anime and manga (only knew Shoujo) and out of the blue my friend let me borrowed her CD and Boom! ever since then I was more into Yaoi than anything else.
I was fine with it, but then I have read a number of novels with gay/lesbian couples and a few with polygamous romance as well. (Plus I have a lot of friends in the LGBTQ community and do not habour any prejudices over what gender a person falls in love with, as long as they are happy)
I can't pinpoint a specific start/influence, but I just remember when reading some shounen manga, like Miyuki97 said about Naruto I would sense some intimate relationship between guys or fantasize them being close. Then with strong hints in practically shounen ai manga like Black Butler, Ookiku Furikabutte, and No.6 I started realizing there's a genre for this kind of thing. So I became curious, looked it up and was led to various Shounen Ai and Yaoi manga. I also began looking into fanfic. My first 'smuttier' yaoi would probably be either Sensitive Pornograph or Okane ga Nai. By the time I stumbled upon You're My Loveprize In Viewfinder and Maiden Rose (Hyakujitsu no Bara) I was addicted to Yaoi, and had ventured past lemon fluff into the super smutty spectrum of Yaoi. Now I can't even believe it took so long for me to discover it.

I remember my first time was in elementary school. I believe I was a third or fourth grader, and I was really into shoujo at the time. Then I got more curious about the more 'mature' sections, but I wasn't aware of how to filter searches then. And. So I went through the entire directory of 'mature' mangas in the website (mangareader.net). I came across this one manga, Love Kitchen by Minami Haruka. I thought the girly uke on the cover was a girl. I read it. I had no idea what the fuck 'grope' meant. I looked it up. And cringed. And went back to the manga. Then I read it, and I was creeped out.
Never went back to it.
Then I think my second experience with it was Okane Ga Nai. I don't recall my age though. But I tried reading it, and the whole rape thing at the beginning turned me off instantly. That was when I was younger.
I don't remember what got me so into yaoi now. I swear shoujo is like... I don't even know. It just makes me shudder. Except for some decent ones--Horimiya and Last Game for example. Yaoi is life now. That and select shounen manga like Haikyuu.
It's really odd for me.
WTF I JUST READ YOUR POST IN ITS ENTIRETY. And I just remembered. Junjou Romantica was my induction into yaoi society. I watched the anime, and I loved it all. But I never liked watching, so I looked up the manga. And then began my journey. Fuck this is wonderful.
