It’s just another version of the “I can fix him” trope. The MC gets degraded, humiliated, and treated like shit to the point where you’d expect them to finally walk away, but then suddenly all of that gets erased because they still want to be with the ML. And the worst part is that there are literally dozens of people who would treat them infinitely better, yet they still choose to settle for the most fucked-up option available. I genuinely hate this trope—it’s such an ass way of writing romance.
