Ok, I'm ngl I am getting tired of these BL stories soft-launching grooming or these inappropriate age gaps and dynamics... like, why was bro trying to act like a parent while he was literally getting his dick sucked .. also WHY do they have to meet when one is a child?? like he got updates on his life HE WATCHED HIM GROW UP I just can'. Idc that its fiction it”s still weird asf
i mean they are 90% of yaoi is written by straight women who dont know the definition of consent and think its hot to cry, scream no and stop during sex. giving them the benefit of the doubt, i will choose to believe its because theyre virgins who have no idea how sex actually works irl. but its very upsetting to me that a lot of teenagers do read this stuff, its legit dangerous. lovesick dog is genuinely the only yaoi ive read that depicts not only consent but enthusiastic consent and communication during sex.
definitely. sadly it gets to a lot of them, even adults. in turn we see rape apologist rhetoric a lot in this community because people dont want to admit their favorite stories include graphic depictions of rape. which is why its so harmful to romantize these depictions, people are incredibly naive and ignorant
The women in this story are not "dumb" or "easy" they all chose to have sex willingly bc they are adults ! they don't want grayson they wanted good sex and had no risk of getting pregnant! also he slept with men too why arent yall calling them dumb? like the misogyny is showing BAD...
The misogyny is portraying every women as people who would accept to have sex right away just because they don’t have the possibility of getting pregnant. Not every woman wants to have sex and constantly simp over a random coworker. Also the main character sleeping with every women just to find his "one and only" is crazy, are women just sex toys or something ? Excusing and normalising misogynistic writing is insane, people are rightfully pointing it out
the real internalized misogyny here is comparing these consenting, self-aware, adult women to sex toys because they chose to have sex with Grayson
why aren’t we calling Grayson a “sex toy” instead? he’s the one going around like the community dildo. if one dude sleeps his way through station 8 for “true love”, it’s crazy, but if six women consent to a good time, it’s problematic
now *that* is misogyny
Girl the whole point is that they CHOSE to sleep with him. what's not clicking ??? That does not make them sex toys tf ?? He also slept with MEN but oddly enough I guess the men are miraculously not sex toys now according to your logic..
Adults actually do have sex which may be a crazy concept to you.The women don't want a relationship with him they just wanted to have sex. That does not mean they are somehow less than or not valuing themselves. Women are allowed to be confident in their bodies and CHOOSE who they share their body with. You thinking there is an issue with women having healthy sex lives is internalized misogyny. Like yall try to act so woke that we actually end up going backwards it's actually sad !
ok I'll bite if the author decided that EVERY single woman in the fire house wanted to have sex with Grayson, not because of the misogynistic streotype that women are disposable airheads only good for sex, but because it's their "choice", why didnt every man want to have sex with Grayson too? in fact absolutely no man in the firehouse. Also, it seems that every man there is an alpha or a beta while every woman is an omega or beta. Again, stop being naive and coming up with dumb excuses for misogyny. There's no such a thing as a choice but deliberate or biased decisions coming internal biases.
SPOILERS If you read the novel, you'll better understand that these women are very empowered. They aren't in love with Grayson; they just want to live their sexuality freely. Furthermore, in this universe, dominant alphas are the ideal standard for everyone – this applies to men, women, betas, omegas, and even alphas themselves. To give you an idea, in the novel even the boss is charmed by the dominant alphas... there's a part that describes how even his heart starts racing. Therefore, Grayson isn't like a typical playboy from our world; he's seen as a celebrity (Grayson is kind of like a socialite), an ideal of beauty, and there's even an urban legend that everyone who sleeps with a dominant alpha will have a special experience. Although I can't find a comparable parallel in the real world, I'll try to approximate it didactically as best I can to make it clear. Imagine Henry Cavill coming to work for a short period at an establishment with ordinary people. These people become his friends and have the chance to sleep with him. The overwhelming majority will not refuse, even if they could choose another path. That's more or less what happens in this story. These women show what female liberation is; Grayson is kind of like a fling among friends, and none of them are deluded. Believe me, among the men there is indeed carnal desire for Grayson, and...surprisingly...even among those who claim to hate him the most. I also find the speech the women give sensational when they reaffirm their right over their bodies. Colleagues like DeAndre, who think women are obligated to accept them in their beds just because they've known them longer and had their requests to go out refused, are equated with real-life incels. The women's speech reaffirms that they too are beings who have desires and have the right to choose who they sleep with, and that even if they were to have fun with DeAndre, he's not a good choice for several reasons, especially his rude behavior. Oh...and just to finish: I personally don't remember any alpha males among the firefighters, except Grayson.
The thing is... Grayson isn't just any coworker. In this world, dominant alphas are everyone's beauty standard, and there's even an urban legend that sleeping with an alpha is a special experience. They charm men, women, betas, omegas, and even ordinary alphas. Specifically, Grayson is like a celebrity. He's the senator's son and kind of a socialite in this universe, meaning his face is already known to most people. It's like a famous actor, influencer, or singer going to work at the fire station.
it seems like you're taking the very valid criticisms of "choice feminism" and applying it to the situation. for those reading this that are unfamiliar with the concept, choice feminism is the idea that *any choice* a woman makes is inherently feminist (because she is a woman making that choice, dammit! she has every right!). this is a reductive take and completely throws context out the window, aka history, culture, societal norms and pressures, economic factors
so while the basis behind your argument is logically sound, it's still weak because it's not enough to say "all decisions are influenced by outside forces and bias" & therefore these women don't know any better
you have to ask yourself: are these forces so powerful and insidious, they limit the choices the woman *could* reasonably make? are the women at the fire station under conditions that make the sex feel coercive? is it implied that turning down grayson is unsafe or socially damaging? does story suggest that women -- whatever their secondary gender -- are expected to have sex with dominant alphas? does it make sense that they did?
quick thought experiment. replace "dominant alpha" with "amazing masseuse". all the women at a fire station got a great massage from grayson. is this more believable? and if yes, why is that? is the problem the number of women consenting to the same thing? or is the problem that you internalized the idea that in a group of women, there is an acceptable and believable number of sexually active participants -- go over that number, and suddenly the situation is *unacceptable*, improbable, and anti-women. let that sit.
you also overlook the most important point of all, and this is explicitly stated when valentina is asked why all the men at the station keep getting rejected but grayson gets a pass.
well, they wanted good, safe, hot sex. grayson also *listened* to them, was attentive, and it's clear boundaries were established since none of the women complained about being misled or mistreated. the boys throw a tantrum because they feel *entitled* to "first dibs" for knowing the women longer or having a closer platonic or professional relationship. this is the actual misogyny the author is trying to express. the women do not owe any man access just because those men are "nice" and devoted or persistent in their interest -- the same way the women do not need to justify their decision to hook up with a hung, thor-looking alpha.
I’m calling out the way the author, who’s most likely a woman, is portraying women in a BL story. I did NOT say that these women were sex toys, or compared them to it, but pointed out how Grayson treats them as. He does not treat them as human beings but objects. These fictional women aren’t conscious beings by themselves, the author decides to portray them a certain way which is problematic. If we were talking about real life people I’d totally agree that the women are consenting adults and can do whatever they want with their body, except that it’s not real life is it ?
When the heck did I say women can’t choose for themselves and decide whatever they want to do with their bodies ??? The author decided to portray women in a way that’s so unrealistic and with no complexity, how is it logical that EVERY women at the station would just agree to have sex because "they won’t get pregnant" (ig protections don’t exist in their world or whatever) ?? Not every woman is sexually active, not every woman thinks about having sex in a professional setting, not every woman is single, the probability of this even happening is so unlikely and y’all can’t be acting this dense. I’m also not mentioning the men he slept with because he specifically was mentioning sleeping with the women of the station. My issue with this isn’t the women choosing to have sex with Grayson, that’s their thing and good for them for having a good time without any complications. It’s about the way it’s portrayed like all women would sleep with a guy just because they don’t have the possibility of getting pregnant, as if that’s the only factor at play. Maybe I did expect too much from a BL where everyone is basically a caricature, the other male coworkers are especially disgusting on how they treat the women at the station

bye why do I like her the best with the dad
Omg same
they have the most chemistry imo !
