i've avoided reading wet sand since last year because i genuinely hate love triangles, but i finally had the courage to read and finish it today. the real villain for me is ian. idc for so many chapters, he kept choosing jo. not just once, but over and over again. he genuinely wanted to leave with him, and if he and tj hadn't run into each other again, he probably would've gone through with it. he even said he'd choose to love jo if he could.
so how am i supposed to not feel like he just threw jo away in the end? and at the same time, it made tj feel like the second choice. if ian was always meant to end up with tj, then why spend so much of the story repeatedly choosing jo and making it seem like that was the future he wanted? that's why the ending left me feeling so conflicted. i'm not even upset that ian ended up with tj. i'm upset because i never felt like we got enough ian and tj moments to make that ending hit as hard as it should've. meanwhile, jo and ian shared so many emotional moments together that it genuinely felt like they were the ones being built up for most of the story. it felt like jo got led on, tj ended up looking like a second choice that's why i'm so frustrated at the ending:((
someone PLEASE convince me i'm wrong because i genuinely don't wanna feel that way. i love both jo and tj so much, and tj definitely deserves to feel like he was chosen because ian truly wanted him, not because things with jo fell apart.
