Im still reading the novel but what she doing is her plan from the start. She was born between a noble and a prostitute. When her mother passed away from the epidemic, then the noble father took her back home and treat her as slave. Her life was miserable until one day the father wanted her to get marriage to Orpheus for money.
On the day they met, he told her about his cousin's situation and ask if she would let her live together with them. Ophelia felt empathy for the girl who lost her parents due to epidemic and her eyes, also got abandoned by her fiance which was worse than what happen to her. And through their conversation, she thought that they would be better off with each other.
They didnt have a grand married party. She just simply came to his house and sign the paper. So, Diana (his cousin) and Opheus came out to great her. Diana even explained that they are not in that kind of relationship (even though Ophelia doesnt think about it lol). However, the attitude of the servants were very bad when they looked at the three, so she thought that because of her (her father's greed) that make these two people cannot be with each other.
At night, Opheus and Ophelia talked about each other past and the reason why he married her. Opheus's father loved Ophelia's mother (well i dont know what happen as i didnt finish the novel yet). When Ophelia's mother died, he was one step late than that father noble of her to take her in. He found out that she was treated as slave and tried to find a way to save her life. However, he passed away before he could do it, so he told Opheus to get married to Ophelia. Opheus offered invested money to her father in order to marry her. She feels really bad for him to marry her due to his father's wish. She promised to do everything for him to repay for what he has beared by cannot be together with the one he loves, Diana (this is what she assumes in her head)
Opheus told her about his past. He told her that he doesnt have noble blood. He is not the real son. He was adopted by the noble father. His father married a girl who has black hair that looked like Ophelia's mother. They had a son and named him Opheus. However, the son died young and the wife became mad. Opheus was born in abusive family. He was sold as slave or play toy for noble, and the father bought him due to his look is similar to the late son. The father treated him liked his real son. At first, the wife became better but as he got older, she realized he not her son and went mad and died. Only a few people knew his past. Opheus even told her about his real name that Diana didnt know. Ophelia feel closer to him as their past was similar.
Opheus is a very good man. He treated her well. He didnt even touch her on their first night because he was worried about her health (you know driving long time in carriage). They ate dinner together, went out, took a walk... She tried to avoid to have the first night with him due to her conscience for Diana lol, so Opheus asked if she had someone she liked (at this part I dont know if they did it or not, the translation was confusing but Opheus kinda mad). She just said she doesnt want to have children right now because the rate is high for premature as she is still young or something.
Diana is a very kind and bright girl. She helps Ophelia with alot of thing. Thats the reason why Ophelia feel even worse for meddling between the two. Therefore, the more she became close to Opheus the more she feel bad for Diana. So she decided that she would do anything as his wife to not affect his reputation liked maintain the estate, take care of the house and then someday she would leave in silent and let the two become happy.
At first she didnt become a woman liked right now. She was earnest and hard working. However I think because the rumor about Opheus and Diana was so bad, she decided to stained her reputation to make the two look better so that people can understand why Opheus choose the kind Diana instead of her because she was gold digger lol. She wasted money on clothes and jewelry. She bullied the servants and demand the unreasonable things. She even has a lover. Well, the lover is a talent artist whom she donated money to help him out. They are friend. He was gay and know about her situation that she love her husband but want her husband to be with the one he loves. He told her to become a greedy woman so that Opheus might get tired of her and divorced. He told her to come live with him after divorce as she has no place to go. There is one servant who knows about this and help her with the acting. (〜￣△￣)〜

The servant who Diana loves also see through Ophelia's act because they are the same. He also love Diana but thought that her happiness is Opheus so he kept silence and watch over them (these four people make me want to hit them real hard lol). Later on, the servant understand that Opheus love Ophelia and try to stop her from hurting herself even more but she doesnt believe. So the servant choose to protect the master happiness by telling Diana to leave the mansion, and he gonna left as well (not with Diana, he still think hes not worth it). At this time, Diana and the servant both feel guilty for making Ophelia suffer.
Ophelia trying lots of thing but Opheus just kept silence. Diana met her and tried to confess that between the two have nothing and she will leave the mansion soon because her loved one telling her to leave. Ophelia was so confusing why the plan to get the two together fail eventhough she tried so hard but Diana isnt cooperated. So she decided to hurt Diana by pushing her to make her fall down when she realized Opheus was coming (for him to witness this).
At that moment, she thought Opheus gonna divorced but he took her to her room and told her everything. Diana stayed in this mansion because of her loved one. Diana has to hide her love for the servant because that love was forbidden (between noble and servant). Ophelia was in shock for her misunderstand by not listening to other's story and feel miserable about all things she did. She event hurt Opheus by the thing she did. Feeling ashamed, she left the mansion.
Luckily, the friend found her and take care of her at his mansion. His real identity is prince and even though he's gay, he fall in love with Ophelia. However, she rejected him. Opheus come to the mansion to take Ophelia back but she refused. She think about the things shes done and her reputation isnt fit for the duchess. She demanded time to think because she wanted to find a way to compensate for people who she hurt by acting.
Then, Diana come and talk to her. If Ophelia is back with Opheus then Diana will marry the servant. Ophelia think that she has to stay next to Opheus to fight and try to increase the house reputation. However, Diana got captured on the way back. After receive the letter for kidnapper, Ophelia try to save her and get captured. The kidnapper was hired by her father by using Diana as bait. Ophelia is kept at the father mansion. Her sister Victoria try to save her. Ophelia always think that her sister hate her but its not. Victoria wanted to be closed with Ophelia but when she talked to her sister, the father will hit and yell at Ophelia. So to protect Ophelia, Victoria keep a distance from her. Victoria told her that the father just used her and her mother. He tried to be nice to Victoria only in front of Ophelia to torture her.At this time, the father is kinda lost it due to losing all the investment money. He thought Ophelia was her mother and confess the truth. Ophelia mother is blood-sister with Opheus's step father. Ophelia was their child (might be forbidden so thats why the mother left the house). He tried to kill Ophelia and Victoria jump in to rescue her but they are almost die until Opheus saved her from him.
Later on, they talk about why she change why she doesnt believe him even though he told her many time that between them has nothing. She told him because she saw his smile directed at Diana. Opheus told her why he was happy because on that day, he got to go out together with Ophelia and go shopping with her. Opheus and Diana looked happy because they were talking about Ophelia. They lived happily together and she got pregnant. (づ￣ ³￣)づ
