Okay, I can see how someone can be hurt by a mean spirited joke, but if I compare it to how ppl are prosecuted and hated and killed merely because they love someone of the same gender....because they LOVE someone. It puts that into PERSPECTIVE.

Yaoi/Yuri is definitely fetishized and I think that some of it is genuinely harmful! How many of these books have normal, non violent/abusive portrayals of bl? I haven’t read much of yuri so I can’t comment on that, but I always find myself thinking that if some of these common bl tropes were done in shoujo they would be completely unacceptabl...... reply
