Here’s the thing, the story is setting up for the mom to redeem herself. If that’s not your cup of tea then I suggest you close the tab. I for one like how complex and flawed she is. As someone who was abused herself, she didn’t know what love was not until her daughter sacrificed herself. She was given a second chance to right her wrongs and even tho she slip back to her old thinking sometimes, her only goal is for Lily to never suffer again. The readers know that what she did in her previous life was wrong, it was inexcusable and unforgivable. But I do empathize with what she went through and what she’s doing now. She’s not a perfect mother, far from it, but I like that she’s redeeming herself FOR her daughter.
83 chapters in and some readers can’t seem to fathom that this is a dark romance and not a stereotypical romance. FL is a victim and all throughout the novel, she’s been manipulated so of course having a stockholm syndrome at the end isn’t surprising. You see her actively trying to avoid him and yet he’s still persistent. Lo behold some of y’all will blame the fl instead of the ml. This story really showed that a lot of the hate readers, which are mostly women, are just pure misogynists.
And just because some readers like this story doesn’t mean they condone what the ml is doing. It’s a fiction made to evoke your emotions and critical thinking. You can dislike the story but some are just pure hateful, it’s like you’re just reading it to hate it and that’s more pathetic than the fl.
