i got to "i just got it thanks to halbamama" and backed out of ch. 95 so fast LOL
i'm sorry gourmetscans.... i was too eager.... i'll wait patiently. ┗( T﹏T )┛
You're more patient than I. I went “wtf's a halbamama?
...meh” then I kept reading, assuming it's either not important, I'll remember at some point, or that context clues will help me if it's important.
I got to the untranslated part and decided it would be better to just read the official translations.
I saw a comment where someone said the Korean part “sounded” muted to them and I thought the exact same thing. It made me pull myself out of the story long enough to have me not wanting to miss that big of a chunk in the plot.
mannnn you know what really sucks? if eclis did reveal that he was a magical swordsman that got a minor title penelope would be all over that! because when yvonne showed up penny could have just bounced out of there with eclis! because she doesn't care about titles, she legit just wants to survive and escape. ╥﹏╥
the art is sooo nice and clean but the plot is weak as hell
the bit where ML yelled the order for MC to never see him again is so goofy, like... literally the entire conflict would be resolved if you just said that this cat dude had you kidnapped before. that's like, a sentence. it would take about 15 seconds lol.
but instead we have to have this whooooole drama of "i hate him!!! gasp, wait! i like him!!! no, i never want to see him again! wait... he's ignoring me???" buddy... i'd say you should get some brains but clearly bram is the genius of this operation.
bram you should leave these losers and go have a nice life lol
i love this manhwa!!! its actually super meta, its so interesting.
so penelope treats the eclis this way because, to her, he really is just a character. he doesn't really have emotions or feelings or the capacity to betray her because he's not real. this is also how she's able to cope with this shitty situation: "its just a game, it's not real, i can win if i just get his max affection." if she buys a slave and develops a unhealthy relationship with him: "this is normal, this is his plotline, this will save me from dying."
its every otome game player going down a bad route to get CG scenes for 100% completeness lol
eclis betraying her here is an intensifier - just like calisto cutting her neck in the garden showed her that death isn't a reset, this is going to show her that the "characters" have their own motivation and will power.
and its really meta because we, as the readers, expect the male characters of these romance isekai stories to act a certain way. 90% of the other manhwa have a basic formula for their MLs: in love with FL, handsome, willing to put the needs of the FL above their own.
but 140 chapters in and eclis made a TOTAL left turn and became a villain! i haven't seen a single other isekai story make one of the romantic leads turn villain after that long. its so interesting!!!!!! ヾ(☆▽☆)
i feel like once the two leads got together this story got less interesting... now its just FL wandering around glowing and being beautiful and everyone loooooves her and she's sooooo perfect... i think i'm done LOL ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
there's a little bit more drama coming soon hehe. Though yup its pretty clear they are end game.
