yes you actually can! some members of the lgbtq+ community (in countries that dont recognise same sex marriage) have chosen to go this route bc it legally ties you to your partner which can be especially helpful during e.g. medical emergencies tho a big downside imo is that legally you have a parent child relationship which can become tricky down the line if laws were to change and become more accepting
