Hmmm I actually have a lot of thoughts regarding their relationship... Or lack thereof, rather. Obviously there's a huge power imbalance at place, but they don't communicate to one another proficiently so their relationship is at a stalemate currently. In one hand, Tei is incredibly closed off and seemingly cold, but he's actually very sensitive and emotionally underdeveloped - he used to be a knight, he's been hardened by war. He's used to not expressing his emotions and not giving nor receiving affection. Shuraka in other hand is emotionally volatile, but also extremely traumatized and sensitive to rejection. What they both have in common is that they don't communicate their emotions to one another.
Shuraka hiding the letter from Leracal will surely bite him in the ass eventually.
Shuraka doesn't seem to understand that to foster a relationship there needs to be trust. Hiding things from his beloved to 'protect' him (a grown ass man that's a warrior and has seen horrors) will only foster mistrust. I understand why though, in his culture backstabbing and secrets are a common currency.
I'm not criticizing the story, in fact I can analyze their dynamics because the characters are consistent, well written and their motivations are clear. That's good writing bby.

They better fuck nasty I have waited too long for this
