I understand both sides but I’m not a fan of his approach. Let maxi know what’s going on he always leaves her in the dark. And then tries to win her back with kisses. Then it cuts straight to the sex scenes… I wish there was more substance

this. A lot of Maxi’s reckless actions stems from Riftan's lack of trust and communication, which is why it pisses me off whenever readers blame BOTH for the lack of communication, when, if anything, it's usually Riftan who outright refuses to meet Maxi halfway. His concerns for her have reached an unhealthy level to the point of paranoia, I'd argue, and it's done nothing but hold Maxi back. Instead of growing with Riftan, which is what the author apparently intended for them, Maxi has grown in spite of him because all he's done is act as an antagonistic force in her character arc.

Tbh, his POV doesn't really help much either. It contextualizes his behavior in the main story, but without any meaningful character development, his backstory doesn't serve much of a purpose narratively speaking. At most, we get insight into what his childhood was like, but beyond that, his POV doesn't really change or improve our understanding of his character in the main narrative.
