as much i also I find it weird when people comment these, can we please for gods sake acknowledge that straight manhwa readers also do the same. and PLEASE stop pretending like straight it a minority, there's just as much amount of SL as there's BL here, it just so happens that there's more bl readers on this site so the homepage is filled with bls but I can assure you, you can find tons of SL and GL

Well, from what I've seen, a lot of this comes down to baiting. Authors know exactly what their audience likes, so even in straight stories they'll sometimes write characters with extremely intimate or homoerotic interactions just to bait that part of the audience. Same with yuri bait. They'll make two characters act like they're practically in a relationship, tease the hell out of the dynamic, and then keep the actual romance straight.

And honestly, you can see the difference when there is no baiting involved. I read plenty of shoujo, historical romance, and other straight manhwas, and when a story is very clearly straight, with no homoerotic teasing or intentional BL-coded dynamic, you generally don't see people constantly trying to pair the characters together and demanding that it should be BL. If the author isn't baiting that audience, people usually just read the story for what it is. The BL shipping usually becomes a thing when the author is actually giving them material to work with.

I've also seen the complete opposite reaction, especially on Instagram. Even when something is clearly BL, people will complain, “Why isn't this straight?” just because there's a hot character or because they personally want that character paired with a woman.

My friend use to say that a single hand never make a clapping sound until an unless you use your other hand. So yeah, it not goes this way but it goes both ways. I still remember when BWAT new manhwa was getting released, some were hoping this to be a straight and were wishing that author also do some straight manhwa. So yeah, it a great thing to see something like this. I'm not saying that our's also doesn't do. They do ask if this or that is "BL manhwa" only to get laughed or insult at and say "It's not always BL girl, get a life one" comments so yeah. We all, including you, idk, but yeah we all have been gone through that. And also I still remember that new manhwa where the man was like doing push up or something and some were hoping it was BL while other were hoping for romance and straight but it was neither as the genre was about Action and not romance or even BL so we all have been there.

Basically, if you look at people online, especially on TikTok or Instagram, when people ship two men together, they go around saying, “You’re BL, you’re such a disgusting person,” and whatever. Bro, they’re just characters. It’s not like you’re trying to force them into anything at gunpoint or something. I genuinely don’t understand why they react like that.

And most of the comments are actually directed toward BL readers in the first place. I know some people go overboard and insist that the characters should be BL, but most of the time, if you actually look at the comments, there are people constantly leaving hundreds of comments saying, “You’re disgusting,” “You shouldn’t do that,” and whatever else. Like, someone is literally just shipping fictional characters. Why are you taking it so seriously?

K guys... Thanks for the enlightenment and clarification. I'll probably ignore those people next time and just focus on what I'm reading! I just said that because I was annoyed and I often see them tho. No hate on other bl readers and so on. (Should've put a "some" on my comment my baddd)
