I don’t mind it if it just happens but I hate every time we get a smaller guy topping it has to be such a big deal. It feels very “hey look we did something new and fresh!” And it feels just as performative as the big evil tops that only suck dick on the final chapter

I bet you didnt see that coming!" .. which at this point everyone can see it coming, in fact I automatically assumed clicking on this that the bigger older guy was the bottom

There's literally NO switches in yaoi I'd welcome that "ah-ha" idk. Also I won't consider there being enough small tops for as long as it rivals the amount of small petite bottom yaois we have and rn, the comparison isn't even CLOSE. Because you know what? Yaoi deserves diversity to be hotter and more interesting. There needs to be small tops, switches, tall but lanky x short but bulky, same built etc etc. cuz artists always draw the exact same body type for everyone and that's so boring. I rest my case.
My preference finally gets catered in a precious few mangas and people are already complaining like go read the plethora of short twink bottoms x tall alpha ikemen that already exists and keeps getting pumped out
Im just saying, when a trope gets repeated frequently it gets predictable. I do enjoy big bottom small top, but I want to see more variety. I don’t want every manga coming out to be the exact same trope, switch it up a little.
And I’m not saying that any of this is bad, I just the companies that pay these artist to make these comics are always looking for the next "ah-ha", most readers really enjoy switch dynamics, but it’s an under saturated market right now. That’s why I think it’ll be the next "trend" in BL manga/manhwa.

This commodification is the heart of Yao I- where a bunch of tropes keep getting cycled over and over until they become boring, nothing is really unique or fresh its just kinda tropey without any actual substance to the characters themselves…

I agree but i think it needs to rely less on tagging and tropes and more on the actual characters… Like trying to push out a certain sexual dynamic instead of developing the characters themselves is the issue… I’m frankly also tired of genuinely mid character design IDGF WHO IS THE BOTTOM PLEASEEE PUT THE ENERGY THAT YOU PUT IN RENDERING NIPPLES TO MAYBE GIVE US UNIQUE AND INTERESTING CHARACTER DESIGN UGHHHHH. I’m tired of the black and blonde short cropped hair, you can have different hair colors damn. Don’t get me started on skin tone- WHY IS EVERYONE PASTY WHITE

yeah they are leaving some details out for some reason, iirc a group came to this neighbourhood to film a horror show or to investigate the corruption since the company is forcibly kicking residents out when they have no where ealse to go on top of being poor, the mc appeared on the broadcast and spoke out, he gained popularity due to his looks so now the group wanna milk this out too by using mc
I think this is a great example of how to do a size difference while keeping both of the characters looking like adults! He just looks like a super skinny dude! 10/10
